Yeah, my YT recommends was chock full of the new Duo reviews...must have been an agreement with Analog and the 'tubers that received review units to hold off releasing videos till a certain date (I know there is a name for that...)
I couldn't get through 3 seconds of Metal Jesus...he's video style is just not for me. Did watch My Life and good 'ole Joe on Sack talk about the new Duo. It's still not gonna replace my daily driver Duo, but I'll still be happy with my purchase (when it arrives). ...now how to I convert HDMI to RF, hmmm....

I think the reviews are all pretty solid. I'll need to pick one up when my budget permits. Sounds like a good way to move my Duo gaming to the living room TV and out of the office.

I'm the same mine came in yesterday but I usually play on the crt. Just a plain TG16 with the SSDS3 via RGB on a crt. I think I got the Analogue more for the novelty of it but I may see how it looks in my living room OLED TV. I did order the 8bit do controller so we'll see.

I was gonna ask if you have the dac adapter to use on a crt but as most reviews have stated it's not supported yet.Speaking of mj i passed his review ugg, terrible youtuber if anything at all.I just watched mlig review and jeremy parish for the analogue duo and that's all i needed to watch. Hmm this fpga, pce is not prefect but it's got thinking about selling off my tg16+turbo-cd for one.Still analogue all ways has stock issue problems so i don't know.

I don't think the Analogue Duo is close enough yet, but maybe it'll be better with each firmware update. There always seems to be some incompatibility with actual devices though - based on their previous consoles. If you want an FPGA that plays games just like the original, the MiSTer FPGA is the most accurate (and not just for PC Engine).

He might not be the most tech savvy, but I enjoy MJ's videos for what they are. That said, his Analogue Duo review was probably the only review I didn't watch as I just wasn't in the mood for hipster.

It doesn't match the experience of real hardware back in the day, but I think it'll get there. Super NT and the Mega SG are better than real hardware. So far the only incompatibility I've faced is my copy of Cho Aniki wouldn't boot to the menu (only play the intro and computer preview). Thankfully, it started working with 1.1b. I only have about a dozen games though... EDIT: Opps. I accidentally quoted myself when I meant to edit my first reply.

Got mine yesterday and despite how nice the majority of what I've tried has worked I'm extremely disappointed that my Turbo Everdrive 2.1 does not appear to work in it. First it would only boot to a black screen so I updated the OS on both the Duo and the TED, that got it to boot to an error (OS.PCE not found). I renamed os.pce to OS.PCE and it got me past that error (always worked fine on a real Duo as lowercase, file is lowercase when you download it...) only to land me on F6: FAT system not found. I've gotten this since then despite reformatting the card, once I got to the menu but it just had one line of corrupted text and I couldn't select anything anyway. After playing with this for a while I put the TED back in a real Duo and it worked fine just like the last time I used it in that. The only other issue I've had was that after beating the first level of FX Unit Yuki I just get a black screen and have to close the game; only tried this once though. Overall I am not happy with this thing and really hope that either Analogue or Krikkz finds a way to make my TED work because without it my money is kind of wasted here. :/

It's an Analogue issue to fix. Everybody is having the exact same issue. Perhaps they'll issue another firmware update soon to fix this.

Yeah I am also disappointed my TED 2.5, 15.03.2016, with USB is flakey and basically unusable on the Analogue Duo. I was really hoping this could be a HDMI replacement for my coregrafx and express for iterating on homebrew. This is definitely a poor solution for that workflow from my brief two day experiments

As far as compatibility, the thing I noticed most is that arcade card game struggle. There's only a few that I found work. Some of them you can get to work by changing the settings, taking them off auto detect. And some just don't work at all. Fatal Fury special seems to work depending on who you choose. Sounds like the same thing might be for World Heroes 2. I tried Mudman with different settings and couldn't get a battle to load but others tried various characters and apparently they got the game to load the battle.
Also found that the CD version of Doraemon won't load the title screen, just a black screen with music. I don't think I was ever able to get Ane-san to work.
Atlantean only works if you throw it on a blank Hucard apparently, it doesn't like the Abcard though Andrew is pretty sure he already sent them a copy so they should be able to get it working. However it's not even in the library yet for some strange reason but other Aetherbyte and other Homebrew stuff seems all work.
It came from the desert, couldn't get past the title screen. Couldn't get popful mail past the title screen.
I think it was Dynasty Wars where the only way I could get it to work was if I rapidly press the Run buttonWhen I got to the title screen. Otherwise it just kept resetting. I remember another game of constantly resetting and it makes me wonder if that would have worked on that one as well but I can't remember what that game was. I have a million game sitting here in front of me that I've been testing!
Turbo reproductions work just fine so far though they don't show up in the library specifically. Jodie is going to work on that.
As I figured, Bonanza Bros didn't work no matter what I tried. It keeps giving me the message that I need a 3.0 card even though I changed the region as I recall that the North American region super System card doesn't work on it. Also Iga Ninden Gaiou, it resets when it gets to the title screen. I tried rapidly pressing run and that didn't work to get to the actual game.

Yeah, this was known about Bonanza Brothers over 20 years ago... same with Alshark. They seem to do a version check and the US card returns a slightly different version (I think they return 03 01 instead of 03 00). These games check for an exact match. I patched the games back in 2002, you can find the patches at the bottom of this page: www.interlog.com/~daves/pce_dev/translt.htmlBased on all this, I also expect A.III ("The A Train") won't work due to incompatibility with the System Card (the game makes a call directly into the card's code, rather than using the jump table that is listed in the manual - the US card doesn't have the routine in the same exact spot).

Yeah, I knew about Bonanza Bros not working with the US system card, but I didn't recall anything about Alshark or A Train 3. I'll bust those out right now just for fun. Does that mean that the Analogue Duo only has the US 3.0 card 'built in'? Although I'm sure I tried forcing the Arcade card & it still didn't work. Makes me wonder if anyone's tried Altered Beast? As far as I can remember, that's the only 1.0 game that has problems. I used to own it but I think I sold it off years ago.
Oh, & Space Harrier worked/didn't work, as I expected. You gotta turn off the SGX.
Yup, couldn't get Alshark to work. However, to many people's pleasure and rejoicement, Take the A Train 3 works just fine! I know what I'm going to be playing for the next several weeks! No but seriously I have no idea what I'm doing but it boots up fine and seems to be doing its thing I can choose various options and such.
Side note-back when I got A Train, apparently the seller gave me Hyper Catalog 4 with it. Seems to work fine.
Gulliver Boy is working like a champ! I know Sherlock Holmes one apparently suffers from video going out of sync with the audio. I didn't bother trying that one out but the second Sherlock Holmes definitely has a lot of glitchy artifacts and of course it came from the desert doesn't work past the title screen. My understanding is HuVideo is different from the Sherlock Holmes games, so I'm not surprised I'm getting different results. I'm not sure what the consensus is on it came from the desert, if it uses the type of video as Sherlock holmes. I assume the Yuna HuVideo works as well, going to try it in a bit.
Interesting, the HuVideo disc of Yuna works, but the regular game doesn't work! It just apparently flashes the title screen for a split second and then restarts.

My understanding was that Analogue somehow made their own cart. But based on what I've seen from the Kanji dump, and the fact that A.III jumps straight into a location that actually does something... I feel like it's not really "clean room", but more like a partial copy of the original ROM with a few changes (like the USA identification code, and auto-start).
Note that somebody had hacked a version of the System Card a while back to auto-start at the earliest scan for the RUN Button. I don't recall if it flashed up the startup screen, but ti did have some problems with some games... so I wonder if that might be somehow related.
I'm curious about 2 things: 1) If you put in a real system card 3.0, does it improve compatibility with the games you are having problems with ? 2) If there was a CDROM program to "dump" (or even display) the contents of memory where the System Card should live, I wonder what we would find, and how similar it is to the original System Card 3.0...

I haven't tried my 3.0 card, but I suppose I could at some point. Even then, it's the US version so it wouldn't work with Bonanza Brothers. Either way, I get the feeling it's not going to run anything at all. I did try my arcade card Pro and the main screen came up but I couldn't load any games or anything. And when I press select, it just shows three lines of artifacts. No text. So at least the arcade card Pro doesn't seem to work on it which seems strange to me.
