So, baring these problems, if a person wanted to get this for the RPG’s, Jumping Flash, IQ.... would it be OK? I mean missing the others games would suck but those are the games I would want. I loaded up FFVII and Persona last night. The RPGs fare better than the faster, actiony games where the slowdown is more pronounced and noticeable. Well then it may not be a waste for me.... I guess I’ll see

Honestly, I was kind of considering one if they were hackable, but the shitty emulation has really turned me off.

I ended up returning the one I got from Amazon & then repurchasing it at Target with my Employee discount & Redcard, paying a grand total of $55. I'll eventually get around to hacking it along with the NES, SNES, & Neo Geo Mini(I assume it's being hacked). I have the C64 mini, but no hacking is needed, just firmware updates & such.

Well, I've completely changed my mind. Now the classic has halved in price, I looked into it a little more. The Mediatek chip in there is supposed to be far superior to the SNES mini. It looks like the hardware itself is decent, it's literally just a botch job by Sony on the emulation. And that is being taken care of by Bleemsync and Retroarch. My mini arrived today, so hopefully at the end of the month, most of the progress for Bleemsync will have been made. It's just a case of loading some stuff on a USB stick.
And then Retroarch should give me access to a whole portable retro system!

I got one, hacked it, put about 20 more ps1 games on it. Works great. I enjoy it

Rad! You need to leave USB stick plugged in to play the hacked games right? Did you notice improvements on the stock games as well, or try NTSC versions of the PAL games on it?

I did notice an improvement after tweaking the emulator a bit and you can choose between PAL and NSTC. Yes you have to leave the usb stick pluuged in, bu you can use a otg usb cable and plug the stick into that so you can still play 2 player.

Only thing good about it is its form factor (and maybe its hackability?) otherwise you really are paying for modern PS game adverts (why do you think Rainbow Six, which is a fairly lame PC port, is there? All third party games there have a modern counterpart). This plus the crappy emulation (when sony has a perfectly fine in-house one that works on PPC, x86 and ARM) ruins it for me.

Apparently, apart from Ridge Racer, which is weirdly laggy, the issue is that they've used PAL ROMs for some and NTSC ROMs for others. The hardware itself is actually fine. If you grab them while they're half price, it's actually a powerful emulation machine with 2 decent pads included. More powerul than a Pi and if you need all the stuff included, less expensive. With the caveat that you need to hack it a little to unlock the full power
