I guess Sony popped the news of their own retro mini console coming this holiday yesterday. kotaku.com/sony-just-announced-the-99-playstation-classic-console-1829159574Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms were announced so far, with 20 to be announced. I wonder which other ones would be included? I'd like to see Jade Caccoon honestly, lol- I know that'll never happen. I wonder how this will effect the possible announcement from Nintendo on the N64 mini that we're all expecting them to announce for this holiday....

Sega lagging behind again. Where's our damn Dreamcast Mini, or a Saturn Mini with Panzer Dragoon Saga?

I want to be excited for this, but I'm just...not. At least not yet. I'd like to see the rest of the lineup, and I'm disappointed that it appears Dual Shock games won't be supported. That likely means no Metal Gear Solid, no Gran Turismo, no Ape Escape, etc. But whatever. If the rest of the lineup is good I'll pick this thing up.
I'm not holding my breath for an N64 mini this holiday. The NES and SNES minis were both announced mid-summer, so it seems like it's too late. I hope I'm wrong, though!
Also:
I mean...WTF?

That is really gross! WTF? Why? It was the same with the Snes mini - it's a mini usb powered device

It was that way in Japan. The SNES Mini in the US came with a USB power adapter.

I have two real ones, but I would totally buy this. R4 is a great game and I have a lot of good memories with it. I hope Resident Evil and Silent Hill make it on there, RE at the very least is part of the core PlayStation heritage. Symphony of the Night is a good bet also. Wondering about the space to have 25 CD games, guess 10 or so gigs is no big deal these days.

Sega lagging behind again. Where's our damn Dreamcast Mini, or a Saturn Mini with Panzer Dragoon Saga? The source code for Panzer Dragoon Saga was lost, unfortunately, but a Saturn mini would go a long way to give the non-rich a means of playing some of the over-priced games on the system.
This is pretty exciting really. I wish they would've went ahead and included another Ridge Racer game as they were all excellent during that era.

I like the USB Playstation Controller. Even though I've already got an USB adaptor that works flawlessly from the simple PS1 controller up to Dualshock 2.
No AC adaptor is fine with me. Everybody has got at least one USB AC adaptor in the house, no need to produce another ton of them. The PS1 Mini can be powered from the TV's USB ports, too.
No Dualshock controller means no analog control support for Ridge Racer 4, which is one of the advertised games for the PS1 mini. Although the Japanese version of RR4 lacked Dualshock support back then as well, it was supported by the US version of the game. Ask me how I found out the hard way.

My old PS1 doesn't work so hot anymore, & there's still games the PS3 doesn't play, so I'm interested in this & in hacking it somehow. I'm sure somebody will find a way. I'm also getting the C64 mini, Neo Geo mini, & N64(so it can be hacked, N64 emulation isn't very good on anything I'm aware of). A Saturn mini would indeed rock. I swear the Saturn is the only system I've ever had, where the battery dies out after not turning on the system for a while. I'm glad the battery is replaceable, but, it's still frustrating to have to replace it repeatedly.

I can't say i'm excited for one i still have a working PS1 and a PS2,PS3 for playstation games.Beside a decent sized collection, though i did slim it down a little bit a few months ago.Still if i were sony they should see if they can get both megaman legends on it.Given how both games have become collectable and pricey.

I am a little perturbed by the non committal on the rest of the 20 games... It makes me think that 3rd parties are not committing unless Sony shows a healthy pre-order list. The rest of the releases could end up being various incarnations NFL Quarterback Club...
