Let's here em... I prefer Fatal Fury 2 over Fatal Fury Special. 2 is not overly lengthy, and has bonus levels and story cutscenes to keep things fresh. I prefer PCE shinobi over master system Shinobi. I will take a fast game (with all the music) over a sluggish game with more content. I'm not a huge fan of Devil Crush. It's just nothing more than pinball to me, and the genny version has a final boss which I appreciate. I don't see why it regularly tops best pce game lists.

Whew, I wonder how many people I can make mad at me...
I think the Bonk games are not of the same caliber as the Mario and Sonic games (but I still do enjoy them greatly).
Outside of the shooter and RPG genres, the PCE had way too many B- and C-level titles and not enough A-level titles (talking about budget, planning, etc... not just reviews). The ratio just wasn't what it needed to be, IMO.
The PCE's low RAM and lack of second tile layer are not minor details to be overlooked. They did (and do) create development challenges that did, I think, hurt the system.
As much as we like to joke that the SegaCD was such an afterthought, the SegaCD hardware actually very slightly outsold (by only like 200k units, maybe less) the PC Engine Duo and CD add-ons over the life of the respective consoles. The SegaCD just sold many units in a short time and then dropped off precipitously whereas the PCE CD family sold fewer units per year over a longer period of time and dropped off a bit more slowly. (That's not an opinion, and there's scans of a JPN magazine issue that discusses cumulative unit sales in 94 and 95). But the PCE CD sure produced better gaming fare, that's for certain.

Whew, I wonder how many people I can make mad at me... Wonders if someone is in the right forum... I've always liked Alien Crush over Devils...could be nostalgia since I got AC when I got my TG-16, and took a while to grab DC. I also have issue with one specific ball physic in DC with the flipper. I also think CD/SCD games get hyped too much and folks skip out on the good found in HuCards.

I don't like the cyan background many games used, and I found a lot of backgrounds to be bland and uninteresting.
I think Makai Prince D.. whatever it was coukd have been much better.
I still haven't played 1943 kai

I prefer Alien Crush and Devil's Crush MD over the Turbo Devil's Crush as well. Nicer sounding tunes, better looking bonus rounds, etc make it a superior game. Alien Crush is just pure nostalgia juice.

Ouch! So controversial...
I love Gunhed, but that's exactly how I feel about Super Aleste/Space Megaforce. It's the slow and boring version of Blazing Lazers.

Gunhed is boring and massively overrated. But think of the max flippage of overrated games! Cha-ching$ I think 100% complete sets are overrated and lame. Get the games you want to play, or at least don't spend more that a fiver for some random lul stuff. More on topic, I think the R(X) is not as good as the sexy beast that is the Duo.

When did gunhed shoot up so much. I picked it up for about £10/15 last year ( although the listing was misspelled).

I don't like the first Bonk very much. I greatly prefer the sequels though as well as Super Bonk 1 (haven't played Super Bonk 2 yet.)
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, although still very good, isn't as great as Super Castlevania IV or Castlevania Bloodlines. It's my least favorite of the 16-bit Castlevanias (except for Dracula X on the SNES, but I haven't played that one yet.)

If you want the pce to be more accepted in the mainstream, you'll have to accept that prices WILL increase. I do agree that Gunhed is a bit lengthy but not much needs to be cut out. I think the biggest flaw is the weapon balancing (zero reason to not abuse the shield powerup)

I think the biggest flaw is the weapon balancing (zero reason to not abuse the shield powerup) This argument doesn't really hold water with me anymore. We had a TON of TurboGrafx at this year's MGC and barely any of it moved due to high prices. We hadn't seen hardly any Turbo games at previous shows then all of a sudden this year there was a mountain of it but the public wasn't biting. It was kind of a eureka moment for us since the perception was shifting away from the Bursting Bubble theory.
