I'm just hoping it's not too hard. I know Rover was hinting it might be a challenge. Throughout the development of the game, we had one key point in mind: make it challenging but fair. Games that are too easy get boring, games that are too hard get frustrating to the point where no one except the truly hardcore ever finish them, and games that are unfair will make you rage quit long before the end. We wanted the game to be enjoyed by all, not just the hardcore or the casuals. I am pretty confident that we pulled it off. The difficulty does ramp up considerably near the end.

Cool, I don't mind if I'm too rubbish to finish it, as long as I can get a fair way in and enjoy the bulk of it. Everything I've seen so far (I avoid demos because I hate spoiling too much in advance) looks like it balanced well enough to make it learnable.

BTW What is the precise 'official' release date of the game (so I can get it accurately onto the site)?

I want to see some longer play segments so I can decide if the mechanics will be likely to hold my attention. I can be obnoxiously picky with platformers.

I'm just hoping it's not too hard. I know Rover was hinting it might be a challenge. The player gameplay has been expanded and tuned to the point that it controls better than most PCE action/platformers and the moves that you soon unlock allow so much freedom to tackle situations whichever way suits your playstyle. Stopping to kill each enemy no longer feels tedius and of you've got the double jumping platform skills, you can sidestep most enemy intense spots. The intuitive moves and controls lead to a invisible learning curve, where you steadily get better without trying to, but memorization of stage layouts isn't necessary or an easy loophole. It really does feel like a whoke new game compared to the original four stage demo. With all of that said, there are supposed to be different difficulties, to both accomodate players who find games challenging and those who want the greateat challenge they can get. I've mostly played on the default setting, so I can't say how hard or easy other difficulties are. It's really not in a realm of being too difficult at all. I would imagine someone with a few hours to kill could get through it in an afternoon or two. And the best thing...? You'll actually WANT to blast through it for the story and AWESOME gameplay!!

I found a streamer with the demo. It looks smoother than I was expecting. That's good news. It's a pretty competent piece of work.

I want to see some longer play segments so I can decide if the mechanics will be likely to hold my attention. I can be obnoxiously picky with platformers. There are two shooter stages which play differently from one another and a Hani on the Road style stage. The action/platforming stages are designed in ways that make them feel like different games, which they are in the story. Separate from that, the large move set and core gameplay allows flexibility in how you can play through those types of stages. I don't think that most of that will come through in videos. It's probably better to wait to hear various people give their impressions instead. Here's the Gods of Lightning stage, which I recorded from real hardware: youtu.be/dqyS7AAlzgMThe occasional stutter is from the youtube conversion.

The additional "moves" you learn throughout the game are paramount to use against some bosses. I like decent difficulty in my bosses and this game did not disappoint. There are even multiple paths in some levels and some secrets I'm sure I haven't discovered yet. The graphics are simply superb and the presentation is above many original titles on the system. The sound track is also killer. It is technically a homebrew but could easily have been an original title. It is that good.

I paid extra for priority shipping and should have had this game 2 days before it was finished. Wtf. Oh and I can't wait to get it. I backed it so I've been waiting a minute.

Rover, you guys should either send someone to CCAG here in Cleveland over the summer or see if Arkhan would be willing to sell some for you. He always has a booth there for his own projects and to sell extra games he's accrued.

Good idea... will bug 'im. So just to give a little update or two or twenty... the guys have been able to ship out about 130 copies so far, so plenty of peeps should be getting theirs very, very soon. Also, an update for the PC version... looks like I will be handling it personally. Unsurprisingly, it looks like there's been some mishaps in that arena as well (OOOH SHOCKER!) so we'll go with the original plan. Saru wanted to have it outsourced because I was so burned out, but I've since recovered from that burnout and will once again lead the charge, heh. Furthermore, there is someone who has shown interest in a Vita conversion as well, it seems. The PC version is supposed to be the base source code for all other conversions, and since it's been yet another one of the production hurdles thus far, we're gonna rein in that beast ourselves. There are certain advantages of having the game's original coder handle conversions, so we might as well take advantage of that.
