Anyone else see some games back when you first started getting into the PCE that you played a bit then moved on, or just didn't bother with, then many years later, you sit down and play, and realsise that they were pretty awesome.
I have at least a couple for the PCE and now it seems crazy that I didn't bother much with them.
Mr Heli and Atomic Robo-Kid are my claim to shame, particularly Mr Heli, as I got that fairly early on, and yet only played it a couple of times.
With Mr Heli, I think that it got overlooked against many other shooters that I had gotten - Gunhead, SSS etc, so I was only really into 'regular shooters'. It was only in the last 5 years or so that I started to look into this game and having set up a PCE on one of my cabs and had the opportunity to play the game I realised that itis pretty amazing, the grapics are nice and colourful, and the action is pretty good.
The same goes for Robo-Kid, I don't really know what put me off at first about it, but I really love the game now and very nearly bought the arcade pcb recently.
For gaming generally, I also overlooked the puzzle genre. This was due to me not really being pulled in by the graphics - I could play a great platform / shooting game and see loads of great backgrounds and sprites, rather that stay on 1 fixed screen all the the time.
Again, it is has only been more lately that I bagan to appreciate puzzle games, and probably my fave is Money Puzzle/Idol Exchanger. I also began to appreciate single screen platform puzzlers like Snow Bros and Tumblepop.

Glad you are giving Atomic Robo-Kid a chance. It's a game I've always appreciated and I love the varied level styles and strategies within the simple arcade actions. The graphics are great, UPL really has a distinct style. There are a lot of game I know I am still overlooking, and I'm just waiting for the right time to get my teeth into them, Cadash being one for example. I wasn't over keep on Legendary Axe 2 at the time it was released. The sprites were a bit iffy and the whole things was dark and gloomy. But returning to it in recent years I appreciate just how good it is, especially the music.

Mr Heli and Atomic Robo Kid are two favorites of mine. Mr Heli’s arcade mode sure is brutal though!
Learning about Coryoon was a nice surprise. I was really disappointed by Super Air Zonk, so being able to play something related to Air Zonk was fantastic

There's a ton of PCE rpgs because of the language barrier for me lol. Godzilla and Silent Debuggers for me. Silent Debuggers I was like meh, another crappy 16-bit fps, but recently been digging it after a little bit of playing some Faceball 2000 (which I still need to get for the PCE). Godzilla in the early 2000s (when I used to hang out in the DC++ land burning isos) I couldn't really dig and just felt it was a slower version of Street Fighter 2. Going back to it today it really isn't all that bad of a game.

I actually sold off Soldier Blade once, I honestly can't remember what it was that didn't impress me at the time, it was well over 10 years ago. I finally got a complete copy last year and it's clearly one of the best shooters on the system, maybe the best in the Soldier series even.

Its great compared to the msx one that i have on tape Gogo birdie chance is the best though. I also overlooked driving games. I generally only like roadblasters and roadrash but have been starting to like victoryrun and shit.

Too Damn many for me. Especially from the SNES library. I owned one, but never had many games for it.
Another system I missed out on was the PS1... PS1I never owned a PS1, and missed out on so many great RPGs, not to mention Castlevania SOTN and Chronicles

I skipped Sword Master for too long, because a friend in the 90's said that it was a cool hack 'n slash. If I'd know that it was the PC Engine's answer to Shining Force, I would have imported it as soon as it came out.
