Hmm.. no, I can't seem to coerce Tower of Druaga to work by forcing VSYNC to create interrupts (or maybe my patches are erroneous).
I am beginning to consider that the "auto-patching" functionality of TEOS may have raised a false positive for Tower of Druaga, and that it may be treated "specially" but improperly. I will have to wait for elmer on Tower of Druaga.

Hello folks, I've been taking a break from the PC Engine for while ... as well as hiding in bed, safe under the sheets, for the last couple of months. Thank you Goemon for testing a bunch of games, you're probably the first person to actually try a wide range of games! Thank you Dave for figuring out the main problem with the VCE setting, that's an easy fix to make for the next beta version. Just to point out ... it's still a beta, primarily because it hasn't received a lot of testing, or rather, people haven't been reporting problems. On top of that, my PCEs are still boxed up after moving home across to the other side of the country. As for the problem with Druaga, I'll have to take a look.

Hehehe no problem. I got a brand new official Turbo Everdrive and was try out many games anyway. And since I worked in QA for quite some time, my QA senses got triggered. Your OS brings some stuff the official one doesnt have so it is worth the effort. Also it is always good to have a alternative.
When a new version is there I could also test the US Hucards. Btw, I am using the No Intro Set. Question, is a "Gameshark" function possible? Some games are really hard and a little bit of cheating could be nice

Isn't there a quick and dirty way, possibly as well, to double the font size in the UI via hexediting ? On GT (original lcd) the game list is very hard to read, pretty much a guessing game in itself. OK, just for you folks with GTs, when the next beta is ready, I can include a version of TEOS that keeps the medium-resolution screen size for file selection. But that's only going to actually help you if you find the "System Information" screen readable on your Turbo GT. Will that help?

I've repeated the Tower of Druaga bug in Mednafen ... now to find out *WHY* it is happening, and how to fix it.

Night Creatures TG16 Hucard shows the 4 screen problem and it even locks up if you try to continue. Final Lap Twin TG16 Hu Card does not start at all but it also does not start on the official OS. I keep testing.

I've repeated the Tower of Druaga bug in Mednafen ... now to find out *WHY* it is happening, and how to fix it. Well, Tower of Druaga has a whole bunch of leftover development code in there that seem to be trying to write to ROM and reset the world maps ... but that shouldn't cause a prolem on the TED2, because it is runnung in the TED2's ROM-mode and not in RAM-mode. But from a debugging standpoint, it's a total PITA, because my mednafen setup has been altered to make everything RAM (for testing). I'm going to have to dig my PCE out of storage.

PCE is a nice system so its not a pitty to take it out of storage

Question, is a "Gameshark" function possible? Some games are really hard and a little bit of cheating could be nice The ROMs could be patched on load ... but then again, you could just patch them yourself before loading. Any "realtime" interrupt-driven patching of RAM values, such as lives or energy, just isn't possible (IMHO) with the way that the TED2 works. PCE is a nice system so its not a pity to take it out of storage Yes it is ... it is my favorite system of the 1980s. But it isn't the only system from that time period that I love. Space Harrier is very buggy. The screen is shown 4 times on the screen. Shiryou Sensen < 4 screen problem Out Live < 4 screen problem Benkei Gaiden < 4 screen problem Gekisha Boy < 4 screen problem Night Creatures TG16 Hucard shows the 4 screen problem and it even locks up if you try to continue. I can confirm all of these bugs, and am happy to say that Dave's excellent solution fixes them all! I have done it a slightly different way, at least for the moment while testing, and I am now reseting all of the VDC registers to "safe" values before starting a HuCard. Wonder Momo < looks like a corrupted titel screen Final Lap Twin TG16 Hu Card does not start at all but it also does not start on the official OS. I cannot confirm either of these games having a problem. IIRC, I heard that the "No Intro" set is known to have a few buggy dumps. I believe that the folks around here who don't just dump their own collection of HuCards, have been using SmokeMonster's collection of ROMs ... where these two games seem to work fine. Tower of Druga < hangs at a green screen and doesnt start Yep, this one is being a total PITA. I'm going to have to keep on researching tomorrow.

Args okay thanks for mention this. I wasn't aware of this. Thats sucks. I will have to look for SmokeMonster's collection then.

I know it's not recommended to run it as a main OS, but I wonder what would happen if it were booted that way, instead of through KRIKzz's OS first? (I'm not brave enough to give it a shot, although I suspect it wouldn't ruin anything.) The primary reason that I don't recommend using TEOS to replace KRIKzz's TED2 OS, is that TEOS does not (yet) support the TED2's USB upload functionality, which is a critical thing for homebrew developers who want to use the TED2 for testing. If you didn't pay the extra money to get a TED2 with USB port (back when KRIKzz was selling them), then there *shouldn't* be much of a problem with using TEOS as your main OS ... but I've not tested it personally in quite a while.

Woo that's crucial info, I thought using TEOS directly at boot could be harmful to the TED itself, rewrite something it shouldn't maybe.. If it's only lack of USB support that's something else entirely!

Tower of Druga < hangs at a green screen and doesnt start Yep, this one is being a total PITA. I'm going to have to keep on researching tomorrow. Aw ... sh*t, this is horrible! Tower of Druga has a serious timing issue/bug on restart, where if it doesn't get a vblank interrupt before reaching the code at $E316, it will crash. Yuk!
