Looking for people willing to help finish Gerald’s Game.
Needing a programmer and someone to make one tune (of which I have a sound I am looking for and can direct them too). I don’t think I’ll need a sprite artist, I designed the sprites and the animations but I don’t have animation software (and don’t even know how it works so maybe I DO need someone). Also, the lead character is the same sprite as the sprite from Jungle Bros. So that work has been done, if We can get a hold of that work.
Some details:
Gerald is JB (the main character in Jungle Bros.) brother. The Luigi to his Mario so to speak. This is his adventure prior to the events in Jungle Bros. Clash.
The game is a single screen, defeat the wave of enemies, style game. So, what I am going for is something like Reflectron, something basic to get into peoples hands that’s fun and free.
The Jungle Bros. game engine is the basis for all three games in the Jungle Bros. Project. So, some of the programming is done.
Just really looking for some folks willing to work together to release something and have a good time while doing it.
Also, let me know if I am under thinking this project. Is it possible to use the Jungle Bros. Engine in the way I am thinking. If not let me know. Some guidance in this area would be great for further projects I am working on.....

When I saw the subject heading I thought you were making a game based on the Stephen King novel. Sounds pretty cool, good luck on your project!

It'd be cool, if we finally release JB, to include the mini games on it. Other than the B & W opening, I don't recall if we were going to include Clash or anything else on the disc.

It'd be cool, if we finally release JB, to include the mini games on it. Other than the B & W opening, I don't recall if we were going to include Clash or anything else on the disc. Originally Jungle Bros. Was just going to be a “Demo”, the Intro, and Jungle Bros. proper (plus bonus game). Then, when Black Tiger came in and spruced up my original tile work the idea for Jungle Bros. Clash was born. That’s when the project ground to a halt. While working on the level layouts for Jungle Bros. Clash I came across some older art (AoW art) that I thought I could use. So, I came up with a concept for a simple, defeat the enemy “wave” style game. Then, the story of what JB’s brother Gerald was doing while JB was defeating the Mummy (in the events of the Jungle Bros. Intro) and Gerald’s Game was born! Now, it just needs programmed (which if we can use Jungle Bros. code should be easy) set into motion (again with JB already animated this shouldn’t be tough), and a tune (the most challenging part but I have the exact sound I would be looking for, I just can’t do chip tunes). :::::EDIT::::: Sound effects also need added but really that’s the only work that isn’t started and is fairly minimal all told. That goes for all incarnations. Sound effects need in place, though the Jungle Bros MGC Demo from years ago has the basic sound effects in place for the core game at any rate. The best part about Gerald’s Game is that it is a single screen affair. Which means when the programming work is complete for it the programming work is nearly complete for Jungle Bros. Clash since it is comprised of single screen stages. Now it WILL require a sprite artist and seven tunes. BUT, even then the tunes for Clash would be chip tunes versions of some of the tracks Paranoia Dragon already has completed for Jungle Bros. The Beauty of how the one feeds the next, feeds the last title in the series. So, the Jungle Bros. Trilogy was born. Which, if it ever gets completed will include a mini game and two full length stand alone games (with bonus game material in each) It is a big project but with much of the programming work complete, many of the tunes already done, all the tile work ready, level design already in progress (done for Gerald’s Game, 88% complete for Clash, and around 10% complete for Jungle Bros.) the entire package could be done relatively quickly. Sprite work is honestly the biggest issue and that is in part because the original sprite concepts were to big for the systems hardware and needs simplified. Which I am looking into. So, really, the entire project hinges on Gerald’s Game getting started. Then it should snowball quickly into loads of material and a burst of fun for the community.... You guys have no idea how badly you want to play this game hehe!

Not sure I understand how most of the programming is complete, are you talking about lifting code out of the scrolling game and implementing it into a new game?If that's the case one would need to understand a large part of the written code by someone else.Might be easier to rewrite code as transplanting bits of someones else's code for a new game seems like it would take just as long if not longer then to write new code.

Should be able to lift it out of the other. They are all based on the same engine.

Also, I may be over simplifying things I don’t understand.... I wouldn’t know 😀

Also, I may be over simplifying things I don’t understand.... I wouldn’t know 😀 I guess it depends on who you get to program this, some might not mind going through source code and picking out what they need and then modifying that code for a current game.

I’m open to either. New programmer and new code. I just like how the old engine was going. Right now it’s a big goose egg hehe which is OK. I have loads of tile work to do.

What are you using for the tile work you're doing. Same thing I did the work for Mysterious Song, Pyramid Plunder, and all the tile work and sprite designs for JB, MS Paint

I used to use MS Paint until another member recommended Grafx2,so now I use that for almost all my 2D projects.Kudos for using MS Paint, haven't meet a lot of pixel artists that use it.

MS Paint only is an incredible level of skill with that program, kudos indeed! If you haven't checked it out, ProMotion NG by cosmigo is great for tilework and sprites

What's the advantages of promotion over grafx2,is it just personal preference?
