I'm not a purist really but when decent CRTs are out on the curb semi-regularly still (or at least at the dump on the "recycling table") I kind of figure, why make this harder than it has to be. My S-vid modded duo from Keith is still truckin' years later and looks very nice on a CRT.

I'm already using S-Video, and for now, that's enough. I got my system from Keith as well.

The Duo I recently got back into my hands has the RGB mod with the jailbar removal and it's pretty, even over RCA it's nice and nicer than the core grafx2 I have stored now, but my crusade of the last couple of years now has been HDMI-difying all my old systems or a FPGA replacement. Top Loader+HiDef kit, Super NT, UltraHDMI, GC2HDMI v3 external Gamecube, you get the idea. The PCE is the only dino left outside of the recently re-acquired Wii a month ago, and my PSone but it's the LCD combo so it's set (and a POUND cable would easily remedy that cheap.) I'd love to get my Duo sharp as a computer output over HDMI, best if the existing mod could stay as a choice.

I keep a big CRT for retro gaming, but do enjoy having the HDMI for current gen stuff in my same living area. It's a bit cluttered, but I enjoy having the retro games at my fingertips when I wanna play.
I use oldschool A/Vs and S-Video for everything from Dreamcast back to Famicom. I once went the route of Composite/SCART for a while, but didn't notice a big enough difference in game quality over S-Video. Maybe my PVM quality wasn't that great, but I much rather have a beastly 36" CRT than a little 20" PVM.

My master system is just RF And the SMS outputs RGB native! Someone is keeping it true old school. But if you have a Power Base Converter or other method to play SMS on Mega Drive, guess you wouldn't need to bother

I can’t be bothered to mod it for the smallish library I have.

I doubt I've used my PVM for an RBG signal since 2018. I do, however, have my MSX2+ hooked up to it via AV for convenience sake.

I'd love to get my hands on a good PVM, but my 32" Trinitron looks fantastic outside of a few smaller geometry and corner alignment issues.
Given that set won't last forever, though, I did get a RetroTink 2X this last Christmas.

I play with RGB on both a 20" PVM and/or a 27" JVC D Series I modded for RGB. I used to own an xrgb mini but I noticed I preferred the way these older games played on a CRT. I also have my original commodore 1702 if I want to play in composite like it I did back in the 90s.

I don't have any video mods in my Duo and use composite video on a CRT, as NEC and Hudson intended. OG experience!
