You got a deal then; the cheapest PC Engine games I ever saw were 100 yen back in 1997 when the store owners felt they were just taking up space. Since 2007, I have rarely seen complete games less than about 500 yen, and the prices have been rising. Tokimeki, on the other hand, seems to have fallen over that period - but I hadn't seen it in the 'cheap' category (more 'middle'). Over in this thread, I wrote about games with bugs (and many with re-issues): pcengine.proboards.com/thread/603/bugs-gamesTokimeki is a special one, with 7 pressings. Here are details (Japanese only): www.big.or.jp/~tokimeki/lib/pcev.htm

My understanding is that Tokimeki is in the PC Engine, while Salamander is on the Turbo & CoreGrafx instead of Tokimeki. Far East of Eden 2 is on the PCE, as an extra game with nothing in its place on the Turbo or Core.

Tokimeki Memorial is very affordable from my research, I may go that route! And thanks for the info on the different pressings, dshadoff! I didn't know about those.

in my opinon, the Asian/Japanese version is better, Tokimeki Memorial has hidden game force gear which is super impressive, while salamander is decent, force gear is the icing on the cake.

Again, there is only one version. Only the cases are different.
Force Gear is nice but consider:
A: Salamander is a game B: Force Gear is five minutes long and you can’t die, also you’ll have to correctly clear Tokimeki to play it.

Something I realized, besides Parodius & Twin Bee, there's at least one more Konami game that is not on any of the minis, Martial Champions. You would think that all their games would be on it, it's not like there's that many Konami games to begin with on the Turbo. Maybe it's some sort of licensing issue.
Hopefully when someone hacks it, will include whatever artwork and features for hacked games that are included with normal games, like the Hucard being slipped in when you choose a game saying Parodius. It would be nice to have it all nice and neat looking when it gets hacked.

It always felt the weakest title Konami produced for the pc engine library.

I kinda like Martial Champion. I remember being smitten by it for a short period of time in the arcade before I knew about the PCE version. Really like some of the music, especially Rachel's stage. There was some kind of a defect in the audio on my PCE version, so I sold/traded my copy. I'm vaguely remembering others saying that it may have been a problem with all of the MC disks, so there's that argument against quality control maybe if I'm not totally remembering that wrong. I would have loved to have it on the mini in any case.

The music is perhaps why it wasn’t used. Either they didn’t have recording rights anymore or maybe they just didn’t want to devote that much space to redbook music in an image of a game that sucks.

I've never liked the arcade or PC Engine versions of Martial Champion, but I'm not a serious fighting game fan.
Any missing Konami games will likely appear on the next PCE mini, if the first one is successful enough.

I've only barely dabbled with Martial Champions on the PCE. seems like a decent game, never played the arcade game. I too am not a fighting game person. I'm fighting games, the only ones I really really really like out of any series are the samurai shodown games along with the Last Blade games. those boats stick out to me for some reason, even though I'm not a fighting fan.
I'd absolutely adore a Samurai Showdown port on the TG. I wish they had done one back in the day, it's probably doable seeing as they were able to pull of Art of Fighting, though maybe SS has more going on in the background that would have to be tamed down.

SS on PCE would have been as terrible as the SFC and MD versions. AoF flips between two resolutions on PCE instead of scaling which actually works decently but SamShow would not work that way at all. It has to be smooth, you need to get further away, and you have to have linear scaling. Otherwise the gameplay is affected in which case then port is pointless.

Im so glad I preordered mine a couple months back. The wrong people are gonna get like pyramids of them and try to resell those for large amounts of the drug of their choice. Finally a legal way to play Sapphire without taking out a loan.
