How Altered Beast got 2 votes, I'll never know... At least it's better than the CD version... I'll be even more baffled if someone voted for Rastan 2, seriously. (Unless there actually was someone voting for it, as I couldn't see the result for not casting any vote, reason being I just realised I own none of these HuCard games and had tried only a few of them.) Also, no City Hunter? I think it also counts as a Japan only platformer, and understandably games like Takeda Shingen not being a platformer. Oh crap! I forgot City Hunter! That's a decent one too. I don't suppose there is a way to add something to the poll, post post, is there? And, yea, the votes for Rastan II are pretty baffling haha. It's just so... clunky and slow. Reminds me of Sword of Sodan on the Genesis... NOT a good thing, lol

Dragon Egg is vastly underrated. Always loved it since the first time I tried it.

Based on this thread, I tried Alice. Complete garbage. I mean, Bonk's Revenge it ain't... but it seems fairly decent to me. Like a budget Castle Of Illusion, that still controls nice but is more boring and repetitive. I'd put it above SEVERAL other games in this poll, at least. Dragon Egg is vastly underrated. Always loved it since the first time I tried it. The problem i have with Dragon Egg is the difficulty balance. It's got everything going for it, but once you start playing into the game a ways and get powered up, it becomes so easy it's like cheating. I haven't tried it on "hard" mode yet, so maybe that might fix some of it. But you can literally just spam the attack button and your dragon breathes out these heat seeking fireballs of death that probably belong in a Thunder Force game haha. It's OP af BTW, did you guys know that Makai Prince Dorabocchan is actually... The PCE game Makai Prince Dorabbochan is the prequel to the hidden SNES gem of a game, The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang! I did not know this until recently.

Yep, though the PCE prequel is a platformer while the SNES game is a top-down action game. I've played the latter and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I don't find it all that bad,I actually kinda like it for what it is.In my opinion it's not a great game but it's not a terrible game either,it's playable and I enjoyed it enough that I will continue to play.

Isn't it also related to Kid Dracula on the Gameboy?

Isn't it also related to Kid Dracula on the Gameboy? Nah, that's made by Konami. Similar style of game, though. Makai Prince/Spike McFang is made by Naxat/Red, iirc.

Kid Dracula (originally on the Famicom, with the GB version a sequel) was actually a spinoff/parody of the Akumajou Dracula (i.e. Castlevania) series, like what Parodius did to Gradius, so there should be no relation to Makai Prince, though Makai Prince might have been inspired by Kid Dracula (or the Dracula series in general).
Also, as Kid Dracula was the son of Dracula, some fan rumoured that he's actually Alucard, though there was no official statement on this (and that whether parody games should be considered canon is debatable).

In the UK, CVG magazine (Computer & Video Games) did a review of Makai Prince for the PC Engine but in their review they called it Son of Dracula and used their own custom english logo and artwork for it. When I got into collecting for the PCE in the late 90's/early 00's I tried locating the game but couldn't find it anywhere so did some research on websites like PCECP and BT Garners's Turbo2K eventually discovering it's true name! So in retrospect, what I've learned today is that Spike McFang can somehow be misconstrued as a spinoff of Castlevania!!??!
My gawd, the lewdness!

I'm a fan of "Son of Dracula", it definitely shares a few similarities with Bonk 2 in terms of the "high-road/low-road" design (though overall a much simpler game). But the graphics are far from a strong suit!!
