I've noticed that for some games, there just isn't reliable information about what people typically pay for it, leading to some wildly different prices on the same game. Some games I've seen sold for $10 one month and $40 the next, only to come back down to $15 a month later. Other games, especially Japanese hueys, come on ebay so infrequently that I have no idea how much they should be bought and sold for. Maybe a dollar? Maybe twenty? Is there any interest in a thread like this?
The one I have a question on is Cadash JP. The US version is crazy expensive, but that doesn't seem to have translated over to the US version? I thought this was a very import-friendly game, but there aren't really any sales on ebay to see how much it's worth. What's a fair price for this? A generous one? At what point should one walk away from it?

There isn’t some set in stone value for any of this stuff. Part of the reason you can’t find a set “price” is that most sales don’t have their price recorded somewhere for an average to be calculated. It’s really all guess work. Even now looking at closed auctions on eBay is sometimes the best you can do. If you insist on holding out for the best possible price you will likely be holding onto it for quite a while.

YAJ has an easy "what it sold for" button on search results for the past 120 days, and it looks like cheapest sold CIB was 2000 yen (before shipping) and seems to hover around 3500 yen on average currently ( link). Of course, shipping and proxy fees drive that up, so I'd never recommend buying a single game but instead look for bundles and lots that have some stuff you want, then sell off the rest. When I got my copy of Cadash, I was in the same boat and didn't want to drop silly money on the US version when I can get by just fine with limited moon runes in the JP release (of course, I have a flashcard, so I could always pop in the US version _if_ I just had to read). I guess having the Working Designs logo adds "value" to any game...just like a "Type-R" sticker on my Ford gives me at least 3 more horse power

True words, spenoza! I guess I'm thinking of ballpark figures, people who either want to buy or sell but are clueless about prices. The one I have a question on is Cadash JP.
