This will be the first time Dark Edge and Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder will get home releases! According to the interview this project started at SEGA back in 2018! It has also been confirmed that SEGA-AM 2 legendary composer Hiro will be making the sounds for this Mini console. There will also be support for HDMI out, microswitch joystick, replaceable balltop and even support for external controllers. The device will be pricey coming in at 12,800 yen ($119 USD), but according to the interview its made out of the same material as the actual cabinet. Some of the confirmed titles already include: Alien Syndrome Alien Storm Golden Axe Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder Columns II Dark Edge Ichidant-R Virtua Fighter Fantasy Zone Altered Beast segabits.com/blog/2020/07/07/sega-announces-astro-city-mini-arcade-to-get-36-classics/?fbclid=IwAR3D-N4lLGWmTJqFyOTEoTCK2A8_NKItvzI69EA3-CRltoLZ_TTP6F9ujlw

I like it. As long as the other titles are as solid as the ones announced so far, I'm in.

Should be the first arcade quality home port of Virtua Fighter. Hopefully VF2 will make it in as well.

If they made a table-top sized one (I guess the arcade community calls them "bartops") I'd be all over it, but this just seems too small.

If they made a table-top sized one (I guess the arcade community calls them "bartops") I'd be all over it, but this just seems too small. Like all minis it's physically a novelty, but it has a smaller footprint than the TG-16 mini and features two controller ports and hdmi out. I haven't heard anything in years about progress on the mame version of Revenge of Death Adder. This may be the only way at all to play it functionally other than using an original arcade board.

I think a Playstation 3 has a smaller footprint than a TG-16 Mini so that’s not saying much...but yeah, this is clearly meant to be a console made in an insane shape, pretty much like the Neo one, and not necessarily something one actually plays without add-on controllers.
A guy I used to share a house with for years had one of these cabs in his living room (now in his garage) and we played it nearly 24/7. It’s a shape I love.
However these are just...random Sega games. While they do sort of define the period this cab existed in they are all on various different hardwares and...well, if they do a good job I guess it will be nice but who needs Virtua Fighter 1? It’s terrible. And it’s in a weird little toy machine. It’s all just kinda dumb.
In theory though I have to say that I support mini consoles of JAMMA systems in theory at least as much as the console ones. Actual execution seems to be goofy so far though. Since no “console” existed for these games they choose the shape of an fully functional miniature arcade machine or a giant logo of their company name. Weird. Really weird.
The Atomiswave mini should really look exactly like an Atomiswave shrunk down. A CPS2 one could have worked too. Naomi as well, some day maybe.

Long as it's video output isn't poor compare to the neo-geo mini,i'm interested.Good of sega "to have golden axe the revenge of death adder" on it instead of keeping it a arcade 1up exclusive far as official releases go.Still, only 10 games announced so far and it hasn't been stated if it will have a western release or not so a wait and see for me.Still this announcement sure is better compared to the game gear mini

It definitely looks good, from what I've seen. I just wish it'd get released in the US; it's expensive enough without international shipping.
