So I'm having an issue with my Duo where I don't have left channel audio out of the A/V port but both channels sound fine out of the headphone jack.
I checked the solder joint of the port on the board and it looked ok but I reflowed it anyway. Didn't fix it.
The Duo is fully recapped and has been working fine otherwise.
Any suggestions?

A/V cables were notorious for having poor connections with the socket. Are you able to try playing a stereo CD, and checking for audio output on both channels with an oscilloscope or some other means ?

I have 2 sets of the A/V cables and they both have the problem also I had audio RCA Jacks tapped off the bottom of the board where the port connects, so I wouldn't need the original cable, and left audio didn't work with them as well. I added those to go with the v2 RGB to Component video board from tg16pcemods.
That was also why I reflowed the connections on the board.
I should mention that audio did work the last time a used it a month or so ago. I installed the RGB board and audio Jacks in 2015. That is also when I did the recap.
I don't have time right now to test CD audio. Hopefully I can do that tomorrow.

Based on that description, it sounds like a broken trace in the audio somewhere, if it goes to the headphone but doesn't go to any of those other places.

Fun, do you know if there is a schematic or pictures showing the audio traces, for the Duo somewhere? It has been a while since I looked for something like that and I was only moderately successful then.

Not me, but KeithCourage seems to have a lot of info on replairing these.

This could be a couple different things but I'd start by looking at the 4558 op amp just to the right of the AV port. During every recap I do, I remove this amp, clean underneath very well with Rubbing alcohol+toothbrush, then reinstall the amp. Old cap leakage can get under this amp and cause havoc on the connections plus traces. Also, if you have a multi-meter to check for voltages, go ahead and post what voltage each pin is for me here. There are two pins in particular that should be showing around 3.8V. If only one pin has this then that would explain why only one sound channel is working. Usually caused by a bad trace.

Hahaha, well this was a lesson in validating your test TV is working correctly. I plugged it into another TV and I have sound from both channels. Sorry for wasting everyone's time but maybe this can be a reminder to not forget to make sure the devices you are testing with are working correctly.
