Anyone have one of these or familiar with it?
I'm thinking of getting one, I was wondering if it could also dump Supergrafx games. I would guess that it doesn't but can't find any information either way. But I'd like to get Daimakaimura and 1941 and be able to dump my own copies. I don't have a Supergrafx, and didn't plan on getting one. So it would be nice to be able to emulate. I know that Daimakaimura is coming on the PC Engine Mini, so at least I'll be able to do that.

It should be able to dump those - and if you had a SuperGrafx, to play them as well. I don't have one of those, but I've been tinkering with similar hardware lately.
You would also be able to dump games if you have one of the following: - TerraOnion Super System 3 - UperGrafx

I used the SSS3 to dump the rom of a Korean Bonk 3 arcade game card. I put it on a TED and it worked fine. I imagine that it should work fine dumping a SuperGrafx game with a regular PC Engine system.

Korean Bonk 3 arcade game? I would assume that is a Korean version of Bonk 3, but you said arcade?

Korean Bonk 3 arcade game? I would assume that is a Korean version of Bonk 3, but you said arcade? It was a custom game card made for a Jamma board with a PC Engine wired in. It was a PC Genjin 3 rom, but people say that the roms are supposed to be hacked to supported limited time per credit.

Is there any information on whether it was ever literally in the arcade? Or is it completely unofficial and fan made?

... I'd like to get Daimakaimura and 1941 and be able to dump my own copies. Dump your hucards that where mass produced with all 100% the same code that has been dumped and available for over 30 years? Unless you have a copy of TV Sports Baseball, I see no need. You want the two most expensive games for SGX yet you do not plan to get a Supergrafx? Do you just love the Capcom series's and collect all releases? As for emulation, you can do that now with any PCE emu and the wildly available ROMs. (That goodness TG-16 was NOT released by Nintendo with their overzealous protectiveness of their ROMz, so we can still find them with ease on the first page of a google search)

In response to majors, I have just gone through a dump exercise and found: 1: Several (about 2%) of my HuCards were suffering from bitrot of some sort and degree. 2: There are many different ROM rips on the internet which don’t match. This mans either that HuCards weren’t all 100% identical, or that there are many bad rips. I believe both are true.
This doesn’t mean that jonnykonami will get something unavailable on the net, but I support his desire to get a version he knows the origin of.

Having the SGX hardware would be neat but I think it would be a waste for me just for those two games - even if I were to get the entire library, it still would feel that way to me. I'm not ruling it out entirely, mind you, but I already have a fairly bulky collection of console hardware so just having a way to play the two best games for it would be nice. As for roms, I agree that as the market for affordable PCE shrinks, it's a viable solution to play some of the pricier titles with a reasonably clear conscious. Still, I'd like to keep my use of roms limited to games dumped from my personal collection. The other thing is it's kinda exciting still to get games one at a time, and give them your full attention. Getting an entire library of roms all at once just means that the games don't have the same weight (at least for me). It would take a lot of discipline on my part to treat them as standalone entities each worthy of a fair amount of play time.

Complete rom sets on flash carts are convenient for events and cons. Less to pack...plus if stolen, a flash cart can be re-purchased with ease.

I still have a Duo to play original CD games, but most of my PCE playing now is on the SSS3 + CoreGrafx, because of how convenient it is and how little free time I have. Unlimited save files per game is also nice.

And agreed, that's a perfect use case for them. As much as I love sharing my hobby with others, I'd be wary of bringing my real games to a convention too.

Unlimited save files per game is also nice. Yeah, I have my Duo and a PCE Coregrafx right now, plus the mini (x2 maybe) is incoming, it's one of the reasons I am not sure I want to get a Supergrafx. I'm getting more and more sold on the SSS3 - I was vaguely aware of it before, but I didn't consider it for it's dumping features, I'm pretty interested in that now. Plus it gets a lot of praise. Keith Courage modded my coregrafx a while back, and he suggested getting one of these as well to handle the RGB output I wanted, but I went for an internal mod instead. I don't regret it, but now I don't if the placement of my region switch will get in the way of the SSS3. I might be buying another PCE.. which then of course maybe I should consider a Supergrafx... decisions decisions!

If I wanted, I could get a Hucard plugin adaptor for my Retrode, to create my own Hucard dumps. Though there's no desire to do so at all costs, since I already got access to the complete PCE/TG-16 ROM archive that once was given away to members of PCEFX if you knew the right person to ask for. Yet, I just contacted one of the members of the Retrode forum who created the Hucard plugin, since I'm curious if he has any left and at what cost. Might come in handy if the plugin is available at a reasonable price. More information: forum.retrode.org/index.php/topic,367.60.html (please select, copy and paste the full link manually, since proboards seems to cripple the auto generated link, and I haven't found a way to repair that)
