It's not truly portable, I'm afraid. It runs off of a 5V supply. They suggest using a mobile battery unit to power it. I wonder what the power consumption of a base PCE is?
I assume they're circumventing the PCE's internal 7805, which otherwise would throw away a large amount of current on top of needing >7V somehow. I would then also wonder how they're regulating the 5V, since a 5V battery would drop below that as it discharges and the PCE probably doesn't have a whole lot of tolerance for being undervolted (or overvolted, if the battery is initially charged above 5V). I guess you'd just have to use a really high quality battery with a flat discharge curve, or maybe some kind of external regulator.
12800 yen for the kit alone, 25000 for a complete set with a PC Engine and controller.

Oh, I had seen a couple of pictures of different people making such things, but I didn't know that it was an actual kit. I guess Japan is a place where this kind of thing can be done.
