Very interesting indeed considering the superior video quality over the composite mods.
Kadenken.com is supposed to be selling them. I vaguely remember seeing a GT in their Akiba shop's display case a few months ago. If I can get some free time this weekend I'll head back there to get some more information (mainly price) and to see if they have any in stock. Planning to recap my GT, might as well see about a screen upgrade.

Found the LCDDRV Rev.3.2 driver board on the Kadenken site. ¥8980, so approxmately €71EUR, £64GBP, $81USD. That's minus the cost of the LCD panel itself. Pricey indeed. Any ideas where good quality LCD panels can be sourced from? The above mentioned Kadenken page refers to this model number: LQ035NC111. Googling for that brings up a lot of online shops. I wonder though if there would be quality differences between various suppliers.

Heh, here’s a shot of their display cabinet. They’ve actually got an LT and a GT with the LCDDRV mod in there. Shame they're both tucked away so far in the back.

It's old tech by now, so the standard is pretty high. Also, that price isn't so bad, I mean it's close to £100 for the whole deal including the screen, but I'd certainly be interested. Is there any chance of you taking an order for a small fee?

On Aliexpress the screens are going for around $12 or so. Pretty darn cheap that. I'm sorely tempted.
Once I can finally get my Japanese credit card sorted (Japanese banks don't trust us Gaijins with them) I should be able to order one or two units. That is if they don't have them in the brick and mortar shop in Akiba. And sure, I'd be happy to help out a fellow PCE fan.

But what resolution screen would be ideal? Do you try to get a really high-res model that will upscale so that there's a better chance any resolution will look good?

No, you would just get a 320 x 240 which is quite common at that size. The difference is going to be in the RGB vs Composite, and it can be quite striking, especially when you're close up like that!

I actually haven't been able to find 3.5" LCD panels that have a higher resolution than 320x240. Though I wonder what would happen if you did manage to find one and hook it up to the LCDDRV controller board. Seeing as NX Labs specifically mention the LQ035NC111 panels, it probably wouldn't work.
