So after what seems like months, we're down to our final 32. There's no shame in any of the games in the top 64 who didn't progress, though there are some I feel should have made it. Parodius, Aero Blasters, Rainbow Islands Jackie Chan, Sapphire... all great games. Anything you'd wish had progressed? Anyway, here's the standings. I'll probably merge these all into a single bracket after the next 16. As an aside, over the weekend, some bastard untied some previously tied games and then tied some previously decided games. Since I'd pretty much filled in the bracket on Friday, we're just going to pretend I locked the polls as I should have done and take the results from there. Attachments:

It's more of a favorites poll. No point in worrying about the absence of what was considered the definitive killer app and remains the top ranked PCE game in Japan.
What's more disappointing is how much PCE gaming has changed since the late 90's and early 2000's. People used to love playing Japanese games using walkthroughs and guides and many also tried their luck without them. Knowing that there have been ridiculously detailed guides for games like LoXII and Kabukiden for a couple decades and people still haven't played them enough to appreciate them makes me think of the dark future for the English speaking PCE community after those who grew up with the games are gone.

Personally, I'm not big into RPGs... but maybe you could run a feature to help highlight these things? Maybe you could do a group playthrough, or compile a list of walkthroughs? I think that would be super interesting. And yeah, the polls are very biased towards Turbo releases, there were about 12 Japan-only titles in the top 64, and I definitely felt like there should have been a few more. But looking at the top 64, they're almost all pretty damn good, I think we got most of the cream of the crop. And if it points someone to a new game they love, then it's all good  |
