Demonicus sounds evil and demon-y. It makes me think back to my worst nightmare, the feeling of isolation and helplessness, as if an evil demon controlled my destiny. Galbalan sounds like a shopkeeper who sells herbs for 500G that only restore 10HP.
Fight me.

You should have included a poll.
Galbalan is pretty lame and pretty much anything would have been better.
Amyone prefer Malificus or Dulk Dekt to Dark Fact? I can't help but be swayed by the Turbo localization having professional voice actors including Michael Bell literally speaking the name Dark Fact. But if I hadn't played any version of the game yet, I think that Malificus would be by far the best.
I still like Dulk Dekt as the SMS version was the first I played and was one of my favorite 8-bit games and the reason I saved up for a Turbo-CD early on.

Demonicus sounds more evil, but it also sounds pretty cheesy and generic. Although Galbalan isn't really a suitable replacement. Sounds like a gall bladder condition.

Demonicus sounds like a 7 year old's idea for a great bad guy name.

I don't see Galbalan being made into any shitty movies. Demonicus is TEH WINZ. Paul... have YOU ever thought back you your worst nightmare? I doubt you even have....

I think Felghana had to include the subtitle "Galbalan: Marauder from Another World" or something to make him sound a little more intimidating.

IBM/Tandy/Apple = Malificus Sega Master System = Dulk Dekt Ah yeah like I said I recognized the SMS variant. But I didn't know the names in the computer versions. I didn't even know that Ys was on Tandy or Apple!

I didn't even know that Ys was on Tandy or Apple! Bitd, before magazines made us aware of the existence of Ys I & II, a computer store in my home town had the IBM/Tabdy version for sale. My Mother's boyfriend bought a $3000 PC and I went in there to see what games they had for sale. I couldn't believe that there was an enhanced version of a game that I loved so much. I stopped by to look at it every time I was in that part if town and was seriously considering buying, but never did. As an adult I searched everywhere for it and eventually found it, but the identical Apple version is the only version of the original Ys I - III that I do not own.
