It is my pleasure to bring you this translation patch for Youkai Douchuuki. Big thanks once again to onionzoo for translating the script!
Lunar IPS is an easy-to-use Windows tool to apply IPS patches to ROMs. The patch expects a ROM with no header. (e.g. "Youkai Douchuuki (Japan).pce" / 256 KB)

Gotta ask, how are you choosing what games to translate?

Fantastic stuff. I love when people choose games that are not massive RPGs to translate, we might see a lot more of them.

Gotta ask, how are you choosing what games to translate? I don't know; there's no set method for choosing. I have work done on several others right now, and more that I'd like to look into... but as to which one gets completed first, it's a combination of various factors: project difficulty, availability of a willing translator, whether I like the game or want to play it myself, etc.
Why? Do you take issue with my selections?!

This is so cool. Youkai Douchuuki is a really cool platformer and the PCE version is a fun game in its own right (albeit stripped down). The language barrier might be one of the bigger obstacles towards enjoying the game - and well that's gone now for the PCE port!
Thanks a bunch; I'll be looking forward to giving this a go.

I'm curious: did you use the unreleased-yet-dumped World ROM of Yokai Dochuuki (titled "Shadow Land") as a basis for your translation, or is it all just taking the text itself?

Can we in any way influence your choices of games?

I'm curious: did you use the unreleased-yet-dumped World ROM of Yokai Dochuuki (titled "Shadow Land") as a basis for your translation, or is it all just taking the text itself? No, it's not based on existing sources... This is a new translation of the script dumped from the game.
Can we in any way influence your choices of games? I don't know; perhaps to a certain degree. But by all means, share your opinions, I'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks Cabbage and co.! I always liked the tunes in this game so now maybe I'll get further in so that I can hear more of them.
If I were to choose one Huey for translation as a suggestion it would be Download. *hint hint nudge nudge*

Download is one of my favorites, so I'd love to see it translated. It's not a very straightforward hack, though. I've spent too much put in a fair bit of time on it in the past with little to show for it. If anyone's interested: The dialog is shown using sprites. That doesn't necessarily matter, but it limits the amount of text that can be displayed on one line. Each scene only loads a subset of the font depending on what characters are needed for that scene. Again, not a huge deal since the loaded characters can be changed. If I recall correctly, the font is compressed. (Maybe?) An ugly translation with spaced out characters "L I K E T H I S" wouldn't be too difficult, but a game like Download deserves better imho. It almost makes more sense just distribute the translated script as a text file or edited video/screenshots...
