Retro Game Designer is a software tool running on Windows PC, that will allow you to create your own video games without programming knowledge and play it on retro consoles such as Megadrive/Genesis, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Jaguar & more.

By Orion? The guy that bailed on Apothecary because it was too complicated to code?
Colour me doubtful.

I'm not gonna bite until it actually happens. It's a cool concept and there's a huge demand for something like that right now. My son, who's 10, is obsessed with RPG Maker VX Ace and is working on his third RPG, which he shares with his friends. I've been helping him with some of the scripting, but not much. It's crazy how easy the software is to use. If this guy can make something like that, it'll be gangbusters, I bet. EDIT: After re-reading the comments above it sounds like this'll crash and burn. Someone should make this though.

I'm not a huge proponent of quick game-making tools. The 3DS eShop is inundated with quick retro-style RPGs distributed by Kemco with nearly zero personality and style derivative of every other game made with the same tools. I see an idea like that as a shovelware device that could do more harm than good in the long run.

At the same time, good stuff will get made, too.

At the same time, good stuff will get made, too. Like I said, "More harm than good." I want to be proven wrong but such tools have really burnt me in the past.
