Hey, just wanted to put out a demo for the game I'm working on. There's a few graphical issues, and some some UX features that are missing which are really needed. But I figured I'd stop putting it off and try to get some feedback.
It's a strategy RPG, there's three maps right now.
From the overworld, you will buy units, items or adjust your army (only preset armies are in the demo). After beating a level, you decide where to take your army next (only some levels will have more than one choice).
On the battlefield, each unit on the field represents a commander and an army. Commanders start off with three units and get more as the level (up to 9 units). Units have different movement speeds and range. A commander may have different unit types in their army, which will effect what the commander can do on the map. For instance, if your commander has spearmen (movement 2) and infantry (movement 3), they'll only be able to move two squares a turn. If the same commander wants to attack, spearmen have 2 range, infantry have one, the commander can attack from two spaces but only the spearmen will be able to engage in the battle. The same goes for attacking an enemy, if they have a range of 1 and you attack with a range of 2, they cannot hit back.
I'm still working on balancing and some mechanics and you kind of have to keep track of your units health on your own. A lot more of the game is done, but I just don't have it in the demo for various reasons. Hoping to get any feedback that I can, thank you!

Forgot to mention controls:
Select a unit with I. Then you can move, attack or pass. In order to end your turn, you have to select one of your units and press "END". Then the AI will start. You can use II to undo a movement, but not if you have already passed or attacked. II also undoes a unit selected. You can press RUN on any unit to see it's "attack range", which is useful for enemy units. Press RUN again to clear it.
On the overworld, you can press II to clear the prebattle menu and move to the next map.
Every map has a different objective. Map 1, defeat all the units, this one may be a little too hard at the moment. Map 2, Make sure none of the enemy units reach the town. Map 3, You need to reach the position at the top left of the map with one of your units. The position isn't marked on the map, sorry! But it would be position 1 down, 2 right from the top left.

Works well on my supergrafx, good job! I've noticed a little bug on battle scene, sometimes, a wrong palette is applied on the swordmen ( probably the blob palette ). I can't pass the 1st map, 2 dogs left in the south part, my melee sister is already dead at this point and I can't beat them.

Yeah, the palette bug has been fixed, it's actually any opponent after a certain amount of battles. I know of one specific route to beat the first map but it is definitely too hard. If you're on the overworld screen, you can press II and the menu will disappear. Then you can press left, and you'll go to the next map. Same for the third map.
Thank you for playing it and the feedback!
