I am going to be getting a steam deck here soon and as much as I love my express I can't enjoy the CD library there so I immediately started thinking that steam deck would become my portable turbob for a while and was wondering if anyone here has experimented with the emulation solutions on Steam Deck? I would prefer to avoid retroarch, I hate it haha.
I've been researching it a bit today and it sounds like there is not a lot of support from the community there, it seems like most people are more concerned with Gamecube, ps2/3, dreamcast, and wii/u/switch.

Just buy a PCE LT, they're cheap as dirt, and dirt don't hurt!
Seriously though, that would be kind of cool getting them running on a steam deck. Not that I have one but I definitely have thought about getting one at some point if I ever have that kind of money laying around. I might have to just get some kind of used one down the line or something. Although maybe some of the games that I want to play on steam will be eventually be available on PS4 or PS5. Although there's some independent games like Lecarde Chronicles and that independent Metroid 2 remake that Nintendo shut down that I'd like to eventually play through but I just don't feel like sitting at my PC playing them.

I got it today and fiddled with it a bit.
Retroarch and Mednafen were both easy to toss on, need to rip some discs and toss them on there next. I'll report tomorrow but I expect it to run flawlessly considering the power in the soc.
I used to rely on my PSP to play dsic based games on thr go, and never found a better replacement with objects I already had for other purposes.
If we were talking outside of emulation I am excited to play Horizon Zero Dawn,Ys 1, and Raiden iv on it.
