You'd think a Simpsons game would have been on the Turbo systems. They were all over back in the day. I wish they made a scaled-down version of the Konami arcade game. Probably impossible, but it'd be the best case scenario. Maybe Krustys Fun House could work too. Or an original game.
Of course knowing the track record it'd probably be atrocious, but still interesting to speculate.

Why was there never a Simpsons game for Turbografx? Probably because NEC would have asked them if they were sure they were up to the challenge for developing for the Turbografx.

I'll drop a weird one: Why not port the Simpsons arcade game...to the Supergrafx!?

Konami didn't become a licensed publisher of PCE games until 1991 (when they released Gradius on the PCE and was the same year The Simpsons game was released in the arcade) and by that time the popularity of TG16 was already dropping. Again, there wasn't much point to released The Simpsons game in Japan and not for TG16 elsewhere. AFAIK none of the Konami PCE games were brought over to the west (and they only brought Dracula XX for the SFC to the west, while Snatcher was ported to the Mega CD). Also, as mentioned, huge licensing fee. It's just not worth that.

Honestly, the PCE had gotten a Simpsons game it could have been something from Radiance Software and Interactive Designs or possibly Icom Simulations, and honestly, who would have wanted that?

I think we dodged a bullet to be honest.

I think we dodged a bullet to be honest. Simpsons games were not known to be awesome games. The Konami beat 'em up is an odd exception to the pattern.

I think lesser-known or less-popular western properties would have been more promising license pickups. But looking at the cartoons that were popular in, say, 1989, they were either Disney, Nintendo, too expensive, or "I don't remember this at all". But there were big changes in 1990. We could have had a Captain Planet game!

I feel like ICOM would have turned it into a point-and-click RPG, mostly text, with some short video vignettes like Bart saying “eat my shorts”.

I mean, they did such a stellar job with Darkwing Duck for the Turbografx, especially when compared to the mega-man-esque stinker on the NES, who wouldn't have wanted a take on the Simpsons?

Some things for a TG16 Simpsons game would be certain. Such as...
You will play Bart Simpson (of course, it was the early 90s and Bart was the main star). It will be a side-scrolling action game. You will fight either aliens or Mr. Burns, and use a sling-shot as a weapon. You will ride on a skateboard and use spray paint. Bart will say "Don't Have a Cow" or "Eat My Shorts" every five seconds.
