It seems like nobody's done a translation/localization of a quiz-type game on this system (possibly any system ?)...
Of course, the obvious reason for this would be... "Who is the audience for a bunch of random trivia about Japan that even Japanese people found obscure... 25 years ago ?"
But what if the questions were switched up entirely, and something a bit more universal/topical was substituted instead - along the lines of Trivial Pursuit (but not exactly, of course). Would that be more interesting, or would that just be a big flop ? Perhaps even questions about the PC Engine itself ?
Kind of curious to hear everybody's thoughts... which is why I put the question in this sub-forum instead of Homebrew.

Video Game trivia would be good, as long as they are too system specific. Or all PCE questions of course.

You could probably even dump the art and music (?) assets, and just take them to make a homebrew in HuC in a week, rather than trying to figure out someone else's text compression. Aside from the actual text compression, which you'd want, I'm sure you know that a homebrew trivia game would be... trivial.

Why would you assume that there is compression ?

I would love such a thing.

Why would you assume that there is compression ? Just an assumption, text heavy games seem to rely on compression. If it's stored as ascii, or close to ascii, it's probably way easier to hack in, but you'd still need to update tables and pointers and such.

I think that once an ideal candidate is narrowed down it would be better to swap the original trivia for something the average English speaking PC Engine fan would find more interesting and have a chance to progress through.

I like the idea behind this project :-)
