last couple days, I've tried some new (to me) games:
Vita Habroxia...a bit basic, but fun
Metal Slug 3...epic as ever
Mercenary Kings Reloaded Edition...has a lot of potential
PS4
MLB 20...gotta get my baseball fix somehow
Switch
RBI 20...well at least the cover athletes worth it LOL

Been playing Snack World on Switch for the past month or so. It’s been a lot of fun but towards the end of the first DLC it starts to get really tedious. I feel like at this point in the game I should be overpowered but even when I do a quest where my level is like 20 over the quest level the boss fights are still like impossible even with the right weapons. I really want to get a little further in this and at least unlock the second set of DLC but I’m getting pretty tired of doing the same quests over and over to level up a bit more and then find that it didn't really make any difference on quests I can't beat so it may be time to check out Rune Factory 4 Special soon. Overall I like Snack World a lot though, it took over 100 hours for the game to get to this point for me so it was a good buy.
Also checked out La Mulana on Switch and as much as I wanted to like it I don't think this game is for me, going to try and play it a bit more though because it certainly cost enough...

The La Mulana games are great in my opinion, however, I require a strategy guide from time to time to get through them. I haven't beaten the second game yet but the first game I beat. It's quite difficult but beatable.

They seemed like they would be a good challenge and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the series but for me it was just so unintuitive, I also didn’t care for the controls much because they were so floaty and stiff. Despite all this having not played it for a week has me looking forward to giving it another go this weekend, hopefully I enjoy it a little more this time around. I only did the first temple but I had to look at a walkthrough for one small part of it and I wonder how long it would have taken me to figure the part I looked up out if I couldn't look it up.

Currently playing through Dracula X and, for the first time, Neutopia. I never bothered to finish the Neutopias since there was always something else to play, bit they're on the Mini so why not do it now.

Started up Tales of hearts r on the Vita, I've never beaten any of the tales games so this will probably be my first. I got really far in Tales of destiny eons ago when it first came out, but I lost my save file somehow and never return to it.

I enjoyed Hearts R, though never quite beat it...and Destiny is still my fave in the series...shame we never got the PS2 remake.

I've been playing through a lot of the Falcom stuff on Steam recently, and maybe about to start the first Trails in the Sky. The last one I did was Xanadu Next, which was pretty enjoyable.

I wish they'd port Xanadu Next to PS4 & give it a physical edition, even if it was limited, like what they did for Ys Origin.

I wish they'd port Xanadu Next to PS4 & give it a physical edition, even if it was limited, like what they did for Ys Origin. I think this one is probably going to stay PC only. It was designed for mouse and keyboard input, and every menu is specifically designed that way. The version on Steam does have controller support tacked on, and that's how I played most of the game, but you still need to grab the mouse for some menus. The controller support is basically just simulating a mouse. It does work OK for movement and attacking, but you can't really play without touching the mouse here and there. Since they would have to redo the entire interface, it's probably not getting a console port due to the probably low returns. If you have a PC you can play on though, give it a try! It's not a great game, but I enjoyed it a lot.

I've been playing Ys I&II on the PCE mini. This was the first Turbo game I really fell for and I never get sick of it. Its immersive mostly via the sound with the gameplay itself being very no nonsense. You just go out there and blow stuff up and save the day. I wish they still made games like this...

When you say they don't make games like "this", can you be more specific? Very quick and lightweight to play. No tutorial, items don’t exist in quantities, every piece of gear is clearly better than the earlier versions. Combat so simplistic it makes Zelda look like Samurai Shodown. I can be KOed and continue and back into the fight in seconds. Maps are just complex enough to be challenging but not big enough to need graph paper. I’m never lost. The sound...completely gets the player into the game. There aren’t many games like it even from back in the day. Emerald Dragon is one. EDIT: Langrisser also.

... and, for the first time, Neutopia. I've been hacking through Golden Axe Warrior for the 1st time also. Such an unapologetic Zelda clone much like Neutopia, but having more free time gives me the ability to clear it. On the 9th dungeon as of this post, and surprisingly have a good time with it.
