There's no way that is real hahah. I mean... it's just a simple little game! Why make such a fuss about it. Totally would have bought it anyway

There's no way that is real hahah. I mean... it's just a simple little game! Why make such a fuss about it. Totally would have bought it anyway Well, the toys are real. They go along with a massive anime that was the basis of Keith Courage. However they were never sold like this, never sold in the US ever. This is just photoshop combining several real elements into one not at all real picture. A package like this simply doesn’t compute. NEC’s biggest problem with the US was customers too cheap/poor to buy the product. Including a giant hand build 3000 yen toy wouldn’t help this. Also, where does the actual TG-16 fit in this box? The outer dimensions seem the same yet a huge toy is somehow included. However, it was perhaps even stupider to make this game a pack in in the first place with none of the surrounding multimedia aspects but that’s not the point I guess...

Apparently this is a pet project of Chris Tang. To quote his words: "It's a toy package localization that I did; i.e. a custom box for the Bandai Robot Spirits RYUJINMARU Ver.2 that is already kinda crazy expensive. I've wanted to do it for YEARS!!! But never got around to finishing it till just now. This is my first prototype, and I'm happy with how it's turning out."
He posted more info about it on 'The Glorious PC Engine & TG 16 Obey' Facebook group yesterday.

I actually saw that post much later on yesterday. Earlier on FB that photo was already circulating around some asian FB trading groups who don't speak English and it seems they are already assuming this is something that's official.

It's a really fun fan project, though. I kind of like these explorations of what might have been.

Looks like something Tobias might cook up as a pack-in.

I remember when this new set of figures came out and someone made a post about it on pcefx.
It's kinda funny that they didn't make s custom Keith figure to look like the comic art.

Ah, so the toy is decades newer than the TG-16. I assumed it was an original from when it was on the air. Whalers on the moon indeed!
