It’s twelve brand new video games, one each week. What are these games? Here’s the thing: we’d like to keep them a secret until they appear on your Playdate. We want to surprise you. Some are short, some long, some are experimental, some traditional. All are fun. When your Playdate lights up with a brand new game delivery, we hope you can’t wait to unwrap your gift. play.date

I love weird-ass stuff like this. And I'm interested especially because Keita Takahashi is involved. That said, $150 is a tough price for a novelty item.

Yeah I'm highly intrigued but the price holds me back.

I'm pumped for this thing. OG Gameboy is my other favorite system besides PCE to collect for, and this is clearly aimed at GB fans. If I remember right, I think I read that Teenage Engineering is responsible for the hardware design, which explains the crank for sure. That's a neat detail for me since I'm also plagued with G.A.S. (aka gear acquisition syndrome, a sickness where you constantly buy expensive music hardware). I have a pocket operator from them though the thing this reminds me of most - the OP-1 - has always been a little out of my price range.

I haven't looked very closely at it, but Playdate Pulp released the other day, Panic's free game-making software for their, you guessed it, Playdate console. I plan on purchasing one, mainly for my mother. At first, I wasn't interested, but then I looked closer, liked what I saw and decided I just had to support someone doing something different for a change. I'm okay with the price, especially since they upped the games to 24, I think. There's a dungeon crawler game I'm looking forward to.
