So I just replied to a thread, and SOMETHING just redirected me to one of those "your system has been compromised" pages. Tried to go back a bunch, and ended up on a google play store page for some "turbo boost" type dodgy app.
Might be worth feeding back to whoever about their dodgy ads

If this happens again or anyone else gets something similar, please post it here so I can make a proper report.
I also recommend people use adblock and noscript if they can.

I got redirected to a suspicious page on my PC and another time the tab crashed altogether.

There is a Proboards page that you can use to report suspicious ads:
That's probably all I can do my end, I can't really replicate as I'm blocking all that crap, until I maybe get it on my phone.

Thing is Proboards really hates me using Adblock. That "Can we talk?" blue bar takes up 1/5 of the screen. So annoying.

This is why you always use an ad blocker! Ads are not just mere annoyances and wastes of your bandwidth and system resources, they are also an attack vector. Thing is Proboards really hates me using Adblock. That "Can we talk?" blue bar takes up 1/5 of the screen. So annoying. I got around that by adding a subscription to the anti-adblock-killer list to uBlock Origin, now it's just a small error that can be scrolled past. It probably works in ABP as well.

Okay I installed uBlock Origin to my browser and I thought everything was good but that blue bar is back. How exactly did you "add a subscription"?

- Go to Add-ons Manager (in Firefox this is ctrl+shift+a) - Click the options button for uBlock Oirgin - Scroll down to the bottom of the Filter Lists tab and check the "Import..." checkbox - Paste the URL for the list into the textbox (https://raw.github.com/reek/anti-adblock-killer/master/anti-adblock-killer-filters.txt)
It's weird though, on my laptop at home I have ABP with that list added and at work I have uBlock Origin with that list added but at home I'm getting the blue bar now and a message at the top of the page but at work I'm not seeing either.

Actually, I have another (firefox) plugin I use called Yarip. It lets you specify elements for your browser to ignore, and it's awesome. If there's anything obnoxious about a website, like ESPN.com has the top ~10% of the screen taken up with static elements - you just get rid of them at the browser level. It's great!
But on my phone it's a different matter. I'm not sure you can get an adblocker on Chrome for mobiles? I see there's a browser called Brave, but since I have a pixel, I quite like the integration of Chrome. And the fact that it persists across my devices for things like youtube etc.

I just looked into Yarip but it looks like yet another extension that Mozilla broke compatibility with when they went to Quantum. I guess you're using an ESR version of Firefox? uBlock Origin actually has an element zapper built in but the one time I tried it the result wasn't what I was expecting so I was going to give this one a shot next time I get something I can't get rid of.

Yeah I'm using 49.2 right now. Hopefully Yarip gets rewritten, because it's very powerful for how simple it is. It also highlights the elements as you select them so you can visually see containers. I wonder if there's anything that simplifies Wordpress to cut out most of the unnecessary background shit it does. That annoys me.
