Hi all, I recently picked up an untested Duo R off YAJ that wouldn't boot. Board and caps looked clean but a recap restored power. Only thing is, the picture is in black and white.
I'm using composite RCA to SCART on my PAL TV that can do 60hz. Tried two SCART adapters so that shouldn't be an issue. I haven't tried any other composite signals on the TV but RGB and RF on my other consoles work fine, so I doubt it's the TV. I suppose it could theoretically be the cables, but composite sends one signal unlike something like S-video, so it should be an all or nothing picture, right?
On the console itself I can't notice any corrosion or damage. Caps are new, I've double-checked the cap polarities, and I've reflowed the pins on the DIMM connector. Where on the board should I be looking next?

I'm a fool. PAL televisions display NTSC 60hz without colour. I was going to do an RGB mod anyway, but now I know it'll fix the colours.

I'm glad you discovered the problem! I didn't know that, but I'm not the modding/repair type. Thanks for sharing!
