Hello everyone, First of all, I've been a visitor to this community every since I've purchased my PCE Duo RX circa 2020 and I've already learned a lot from this fantastic system while browsing some threads here.
Thanks for the knowledge!
But now I'm in need of some help. Today after testing some games I realized my console won't read CD games anymore. At the boot screen I keep getting a "Please Close Cover" message although the CD lid is firmly shut.
I've been googling for this issue without much help. I found a couple of stores selling "CD Lid Sensor Switches" replacement parts, but I've also found this post by a Japanese fellow that had the same issue:
However on that case the user was able to fix it without replacing the part: "the cause was only that the switch for opening and closing the CD cover was loose, so I fixed the bending of the spring a little and completed it".
Are there any other suggestions of a possible fix or should I start thinking ordering the replacement part?
I'm not comfortable to fix this myself, but I can ask a friend who's very experienced in repairing retro stuff to replace this. However since the PCE scene is very, very niche in my country, I'm pretty sure he never touched a PCE system before. Any chance of providing some photos and/or step-by-step procedure to replace or fix this part?
Additionally, what would be your recommended stores to purchase this part? If possible within European Union all the better to avoid extra customs fees.
Thank you very much!

Hi there! I recently had this issue on a Turbo Duo. I opened it up and the switch enclosure was split open and the switch permanently stuck down. I ended up ordering a replacement from here: console5.com/store/turbo-duo-pc-engine-duo-cd-lid-pin-switch.htmlI'm not sure if it's the same switch on the DUO-R/RX you might want to open it up and verify that before you order it, but it was exactly what I needed and not very expensive. I don't recommend it but you can also just remove the switch and solder the switch leads permanently together. That will trick the unit into always thinking the lid is closed, which is fine as long as you don't open it with the power on. (power off for disc changes) Cheers

Hello! Thank you for your reply! Yes I saw that shop but the pictures they have of the boards are not so clear which models they belong to. I'll probably order it and ask my friend to replace it.
Thanks and cheers!
