I've had my TGCD for 26 years (!) and it has needed repairs and adjustments over the years. One of the "mods" I performed back in the early 2000's involved replacing the spindle with one out of a PS1 so that the disc would click in place. After some time, I went back to the original configuration...
Now the original spindle won't stay in place for very long (it moves up and down too easily), meaning that switching games now involves adjusting the spindle each time, or even failures during game play..
What would be the best way to fix the spindle in place to keep it from moving?

Loctite, crazy glue, nail polish. Probably any of those would work.

Krazy glue did it. But a word of warning. I had Googled similar repairs and the recommendation on an audio site was to drop a few drops of super glue onto the top of the spindle post to keep the disc platter in place.
This caused a whole new problem with the TGCD, as the piece in the lid of the drive closes down into the center of the disc platter. With 3 drops of Krazy glue in there, it would no longer close properly.
I had to grind out the glue with a Dremel to get it all to fit again.
In the end, with one drop of Krazy glue, the disc platter is now solid and the TGCD is working great.
