While starting out I used to try drawing everything I could, then scan it in and use it as the basis for pixelart. Most of what I did for FX Unit Yuki was done like that video.
I usually use a 1 pixel pencil tool in photoshop and sketch out a rough line drawing of something. Then refine it similarly, working with the "botton" color first and sort if painting my way upward. Once I have a plain version of something looking good enough composition-wise, I then shade it and adjust the coloring as needed after it's polished up.

Retro games should really mean vintage video games, with "retro" referring to games that emulate that era. Unfortunately vintage video games doesn't have the same ring as say vintage motorcycle.

On the old forum we used the term Retro, rather than retro, to distinguish the two. Capital Retro is the fake one.
I prefer “old games”. Makes it pretty hard to confuse people.

Games for "old consoles" works better, as old consoles keep getting new games and titles like Xeno Crisis are not homebrew.
