Wow, I was today years old when I learned that it's "Neclos Fortress" and not "Necross" What brings you to that conclusion ? It's mentioned in one of the PCE interviews. Then I did a google search and it seems to be the accepted romanisation for the series of toys: www.neclosfortress.com/One of the cards that comes with them says 'Neclos' in English (not always a guarantee I know, but this seems the most widespread spelling).
It's like when I found out that 'Branders' was actually called 'Blunders'.

Hmm... I have a feeling that I can find "official" spellings with an 'R' from that same period (but I'll have to look). I've seen many instances where the spelling is both 'R' and 'L' from official sources for the same game... sometimes in the same article or advertisement. This is easier to disambiguate if the word comes from English or some other famous source, but this example doesn't appear to be so clear. Hmmm... according to this article, it comes from Greek, so [Nekros] or even [Nɛκρoς] is more appropriate... ameblo.jp/ikeday31/entry-12510088180.html

Yeah it's always a bit of a pickle with these, but sometimes I have to go with the most common accepted spellings, especially when I'm trying to be as accurate as possible on my site.

Usually you have to figure out the source of the fake word and base it on that. Clearly Linkle Liver Story wasn’t meant to be called that but it’s romanized exactly like that in at least one place. In this case Necros is probably correct.
My favorite one was when Bandai once wrote the name Quatro Bagina as “Quatro Vagina” on...it’s maybe the Zeta Gundam Playstation game? Maybe it was a model. Anyways, clearly that wasn’t correct and it was 15-20 years after the character was created.
It happens, it happens in manga A LOT. Just because you see one spelling once doesn’t mean it’s definitive.

This is a tough choice. I still think Neclos is probably the 'best' option to use as it's the most accepted. But what I'll do for now is list it in the index under Neclos Fortress, but give additional info on the page: NEKUROSU NO YŌSAI (NECLOS/NECROS FORTRESS)

what would be nice if project phobos adds xinput joystick support for pc engine mini so majority of high grade joysticks would be compatible assuming they can make relatively lag free.

LMAO about PC Denjin only taking like 3 months to develop. Well yeah, it's literally Coryoon re-skinned. Even the music engine is completely identical. The fact that he mentioned the background map didn't have collision sections, so they did that with sprites.. tells me they weren't changing the game engine source code at all. They simply scripted non-destructible enemies as collision objects in parts of stages. The re-skinning of PC Denjin was kinda already known/suspected, but nice to see it officially confirmed.. and to the extent that they didn't change anything of the original's engine.

To me there are like a dozen games on PCE that feel like they were made that way. Like someone at Hudson had an 80s version of Super Mario Maker for internal use only. Wonderboy and Momotaro Katsugeki...are those really totally different games? And Wataru? Seems like a waste of coding to do that all from scratch every time.
Back then code was a lot more valuable, I guess. So many games had their graphics completely replaced for different regions or unrelated games while keeping the code...nowadays, unless you had some extremely cutting edge ideas that would never make sense. Now the graphics are the huge drain on the budget just by the shear volume of assets in the game. Super Mario USA would make zero sense today.

I wonder how much in sales term that would be defined as sucessful that Konami, 500,000 units, 1 million?, presumably, it's more sucessful than neo geo mini or maybe even megadrive/genesis mini, the previous licence holder at games obviously hurt the perception and image of megadrive mini as they made their version of megadrive mini look more like master system quality.
if they define the sales numbers sucessful, then they green light a sucessor model? pc engine duo mini, supergrafx mini or even pc engine shuttle mini? maybe even a lcd add unit to mimic pc engine lt as well but with modern technology such as 480x640 4:3 LCD IPS screen.

There’s absolutely no way the PCE Mini outsold the Genesis Mini. The Sega one is in every store in America and the PCE was a delayed Amazon exclusive that sold out.
I would appreciate successor models but I wouldn’t count on it. In one interview it seemed like they said they already used every game they %100 for sure knew they had the rights too. I don’t think they have another 50 games ready.
