I confess I do not understand the love for the Bloody Wolf soundtrack. The instrument sounds are at best pretty rough and at worst like someone trying to play a chainsaw.

I really love the original Legendary Axe. Jun Chikuma's compositions on that are so moody and unique. Never heard another game that sounds quite like it. RIGHT?! There's just something so unique about it, so much nostalgia. Makes the game sooo much enjoyable imo

Yeah, I'd go with: Legendary Axe - she did that modular layering stuff to get two harmonizing voices at once which makes it sound so much fuller www.youtube.com/watch?v=we4uedVpnToMagical Chase - I think this song is masterful, and in general the instruments are great www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDL9tONyAuc Batman, of course - great use of samples, super active bass www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGyQ20zBycw&t=247sBonk's revenge - wide variety of tones and themes, this is a favorite of mine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdq5fTqyyfkDevil's Crush - great instruments again, super fun to listen to. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFWl3kF5fSACross Wiber - I like how FACE games treat bass and cross wiber is a good example. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDbGhl8SU3kSoldier Blade - well composed across the boards (but held back a little by the cymbal crash) www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc3K6rNJRwcDungeon Explorer - seems to use similar techniques to legendary axe, and has that iconic intro! youtu.be/C7Po73eMng0?t=108Terra Cresta II - another excellent shooter soundtrack, with a different tone (and better sounding drums) than most. www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-9RBuua8t0I'm sure there's plenty more I'm not thinking of, but those are some favorites! Honorable mention: Splatterhouse - Not an original PCE game so doesn't warrant inclusion in a main list, but the music is great, and sounds excellent on the chip. Just a great implementation of italian horror film scores into game form www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrjEKRpQOKADevil Hunter Yohko - the PCM in this game is great but it's a CD, so..

Devils Crush I could listen to the BGM for hours.
Bomberman 94 World 1 and the Battle mode music are my top picks, though the rest of the game has pretty catchy tracks, too. And they're a welcome deviation from the typical HuCard sounds. What else would you expect from a rather late title on the system.
Salamander So gritty, so good.

I confess I do not understand the love for the Bloody Wolf soundtrack. I'm on team Bloody Wolf, but I'll agree that it's a acquired taste. It might have more to do with the music fits the games graphics and play style. Stand alone, it could be grating.

What are some of the best HuCard/PSG game soundtracks that come to mind? Let's hear 'em! Fragmare on the topic of music, are you going to compose anymore PC Engine PSG tracks? I was listening to the ones you put up on YouTube the other day and they sounded amazing so I subbed.

SOR1 - Moon Beach as well. The next HuC6280 tune you'll probably hear, though, will be a bit of a departure from my norm. It was a request made by someone important in the PC-Engine emulation scene, so i was obliged to accept. Think soothing SNES J-RPG home town music.
