Rastan was an arcade favorite for sure! There's a large majority of Taito games from that era that have extremely "FM-y" FM synth tunes that kind of irritates me to a small degree, but Rastan's themes are catchy enough to overlook this some. I can't really stand the high octane "chase" music in Chase HQ that engages when you catch up to your mission objective.
You should take a listen to the Master System's FM soundtrack when you get a chance. My US SMS was installed with an FM chip and a toggle switch that allows me to enjoy both FM or PSG in the games that support both. Rastan's is pretty sweet.
Fun fact: The Japanese Sega Master System and the MSX2 both share the same FM chip, so games that appeared on both formats have identical sounding music. Examples are Aleste 2, Golvellius, and our oily friend Rastan.
Also, Rastan Saga also received a port to the PC Engine FYI. It's soundtrack was so poorly programmed that it's worth a listen just for a laugh.

Always liked Rastan and it should have got ported to the 16bit era systems(turbo,genesis),master system version is good for 8bit though.

Yes, after my video was posted I found out that it was ported to the PC engine. If I would've known beforehand I definitely would've included it. They should've just released the original Rastan saga for the Genesis as opposed to the horrible second game. |

I'm about three videos behind anyway. Several I've put off watching so that I can watch them with the wifey.
