Hey, everyone. Something I've been involved with for the past four years was just publicly announced yesterday. It's not for PC-Engine but I'm fairly certain it's a video game. That game is... An unexpected visit from the Misery Dragon has left Rikki & Vikki with two less children and significantly more inconvenience. Only by mastering a multitude of problematic puzzles can they reach the core of Misery's secret base and rescue the kinder. Rikki & Vikki is a new puzzle action hybrid available for Microsoft Windows on December 26, 2018 and the Atari 7800 ProSystem on February 18, 2019. There's also a trailer, right down there, yep, vv-- there --vv.
You can check it out on... The Official Website, Steam, and AtariAge! Enjoy having words dispensed in your face? You can follow me on Twitter.

EDIT - Upon further investigation the video is the 7800 and the audio is not. Amazing work!

Any chance you might be thinking about making a Turbo version of this?

Thanks, and yep the footage used in the trailer was all recorded from a real Atari 7800. While the audio was added in post, the music uses the same sound tools and sample set as the rest of the game so this is very close to what the actual product is like - with the exception of the voice acting. Any chance you might be thinking about making a Turbo version of this? Unfortunately, no. The only other platform we're considering right now is the Nintendo Switch but this depends upon how the Windows version does. When I was first drafting the designs for the game I did consider the TurboGrafx but thought it would be too simple. Though, if I was to start this over today it would be Windows only. I still would like to work with the Turbo at some point, just on something more fitting for the hardware.

I love these simple, older game styles the older I get. I think the music is excellent too! You should definitely consider a Turbo port sometime. Your music has that "buzzy" quality that the Turbo was so good at doing. Either way I really dig what I saw in the trailer.

You thought the game design was too simple for the Turbo or the Turbo was too simple for the game design? If the former, I would only worry about it if you felt it would be a lot of development effort for very little payoff. But that’s developing for the Turbo in a nutshell, sadly.

Woah! This is really good! That c Voice actung sounds like Dunkey too! I'm not familiar with the 7800, how did you find your way to our humble board? Slowbeef of Retsupurae generously contributed the voice of Misery. Anyway, I used to stop by the PCEFX Forums and designed a few weird HuCard mappers and made a sound driver in the before times. I followed the other programmers here. I love these simple, older game styles the older I get. I think the music is excellent too! You should definitely consider a Turbo port sometime. Your music has that "buzzy" quality that the Turbo was so good at doing. Either way I really dig what I saw in the trailer. We designed it to look and start simple, but if you want to dig there's lots of game in there . Also, if you liked the music it's by RushJet1. You thought the game design was too simple for the Turbo or the Turbo was too simple for the game design? If the former, I would only worry about it if you felt it would be a lot of development effort for very little payoff. But that’s developing for the Turbo in a nutshell, sadly. It's the former. My concern isn't actually about the effort for little payoff but rather I feel I can do more for the Turbo than port something that was designed for another platform. So I'd rather make a better game for you to play rather than port this .

Tailchao, thanks for posting your game. The visuals and sound appeal to me.
Is a GOG release planned in the foreseeable future?

Tailchao, thanks for posting your game. The visuals and sound appeal to me. Tenk yew Is a GOG release planned in the foreseeable future? I'd like to get the game on as many distribution platforms as possible, so we'll definitely look into GoG and also Epic's new thing. Humblebundle is first priority though, and once I'm done wrapping up the designs of the last few print materials it should show up there.

I can't wait to see someone speed run this. I bet it's just ripe for that kind of treatment.
