It's been a while since we've had a thread on this game. Gredler and I have picked up work on this, and are now in the "Let's get 'er done phase." He's really whipping me into shape, by having routine meetings, which forces both of us to get stuff done.
A really nice part, is some art we've seen (aka my avatar) is now in-game!
It took gredler ages to get me to give up on dodging table legs, but in the end he was right. Stacks of PCE and TG16 games is way cooler. Other obstacles include books, trees, and cacti! We're closing in on 3 levels "completed," and hope to have 5 by the final product.

This is also all using the newly added support for ProMotion, so I am able to export directly from that as a PNG and STM with this being the result. Thanks for the help elmer! We will likely be asking for more soon, as we are running into some bugs already with the process, but didn't want to reach out until we stomp out all of the user error that we can find, and there's plenty of that!

I like that there is so much development going on and in such a variety of styles.

Thanks for the encouragement you two, that's very appreciated. We have more done than we've shown, but it's so hodgepodge and broken looking we are trying to hold off on showing things that are incomplete - even DK's screenshot is making me cringe at the missing stuff I want to have in there. Having the promotion support has been great, and super educational Our music woes continue, and though some people in the chat have offered help, we still haven't found final solution for either tools or musician. We have some dabbles in both Squirrel and Deflemask, but have yet to get any song to a full six channels with effects and a representative composition, nor do we have much in the ways of SFX. I am not a sound person, and neither is DK, so that's been the gaping black hole of the project thus far.

Looking great! If it were a cd game, I might eventually be able to do redbook tunes. Not sure when though. I hope to organize my home more, & get some things fixed on my synth, ^ then be able to make tunes again for Turbob games.
If you find someone to do chip tunes, maybe later, you could do an enhanced version with redbook?

Thanks dude Yeah we're aiming to stick to the conforms of the PCE Chiptune functionality, but if we finish the game then I imagine making a cd port with better tunes would be possible? We are loading a lot of huge sprites, so maybe it's difficult or impossible without rework? I wouldn't know. Have you messed with the Deflemask tools that Elmer has discussed adding support for? Maybe you would be interested in mashing out some bangers for us with that moreso than the prior MML + Squirrel workflow?

The ! in the title always looks like an l to me, and I read it as Catastrophyl. And then I wonder what kind of apocalyptic plant has Catastrophyl in it's leaves instead of chlorophyll. "You want green? I'll give you green! Muah hah hah haaaaaaaah!!"

That is rather attractive. What screen resolution are you working in?

We're at 256x224. Thanks for the kind words Spenoza and DK. It's fun to be able to show something. I can't believe this level is almost off our plates, it's taken far too long lol.

The reason I asked about resolution is I see some flickering, but I guess I was discounting that the stacks of books and such sometimes overlap. You could probably also do those stacks with background tiles instead of sprites and just give them a different display priority.
