I don't understand why there is such a buzz for those games,pc-gunjin looks like a plain scroller with some badly implemented jump physics and Xymati shows another scroller with a few enemies with very simple movement pattern for a dew seconds. Was there more then what was shown that I'm not aware of?

I would say that they are both great in their potential because as far as I could see they are fairly early in development. So, in the prospect of what they could become, is awesome.

Games usually look pretty naff early in their development, and it seems that the programming in that video wasn't polished at all ... but I wouldn't expect that. IIRC, fragmare showed a lot more of the art assets that he'd done, in a thread on PCEFX. Pretty nice sprites (especially for a homebrew game), but IMHO and for what little it's worth in someone else's project, the balance of tile usage in the background (the city) vs foreground (the platforms) was off. That could be, again, just because it was early-days. P.S. If you take a good look at Konami's original Contra arcade game ... it's not exactly much more than a plain scoller, either. Can't wait to restart my sgx shmup with fragmare . I look forward to hearing more about it and seeing your progress!
