I was thinking it would be fun to talk about potential homebrew games so if anyone with the capabilities to make one would want to take a crack at it, they could. Or if I ever get proficient enough, I'll have a record of game ideas to dig into. I'll go first - Has anyone here played the card game Star Realms? It's a two-player, competitive, space themed, deck building game. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/147020/star-realmsI wonder if this game could be ported to the Turbografx-16. They made a digital version of the game for Android, iOS, and Steam which is free to play against Easy AI and once Chapter of the single player Campaign. $5 unlocks the 2-player options and the rest of the Campaign. Then there's tons of cheap expansions, but I still think playing the base game is my favorite format. The only card game I think I've played on the TG16 is King of Casino and that doesn't have a very good card game engine. I think this game could be made on the TG16. I'm pretty sure they're building the app using the Unity engine. Maybe a card game tutorial for Unity is out there that would be useful in building a similar engine for the TG16. I know the online stuff wouldn't be possible, but I bet a simple AI opponent could be created and a 2-player option would be possible. Thoughts? Anyone here play Star Realms? I'm "zodwallop" over there. I always accept challenges. But I'll look you up on prostarrealms.com first.

The PCE could use some more adventure platformers. Western companies tried to create several but they all had mechanical deficiencies that made them more chore than fun.

If you haven't already, you should play Popful Mail. It has that magical feeling of the very best Hudson and Falcom games, even though it was published by NEC.

I think I dabbled in it briefly, but I really wanted to know what was going on and I was not in the right place at the time to brush up on my Japanese. It seemed to be a mechanically solid game that was fun enough. I just really wanted to follow the dialogue.

I think that it was SamIAm who said that it was more or less faithful story-wise. Just packed full of the usual WD "humor".

Better yet, the Famicom version. IIRC, the few things that are different(like actual snow in the Snowfield) don't make the game have any slowdown or anything. Maybe the snow is the only thing different, I can't totally recall. But, putting the arcades tiles n' sprites over the NES version would be great. Keranu I think did a few sprites from the arcade game, but in PCE colors, but with the pants of the NES version for Bill & Lance.

Now I'm wondering how hard it would be to do hit-scan firearms in a belt-scroller...

I would love to see some more TSR gold box D&D games. One isn't enough.
