Not tool assisted, but anyone have interest in running in or viewing speedruns for classic games? I really enjoy events like All Games Done Quick and the like, but noticed there really isn't a lot of Turbo games at these events.. or any at all. This last SGDQ had one dude play through Bonk's Revenge and literally the whole time he kept saying how we need more speedrunners playing Turbo games at these events.
And it's true! Do you have any games that you completely blast through and maybe have even checked in on your times?
Personally I can 1CC Lords of Thunder on normal and started working on how fast I can knock out the bosses by practicing the boss rush mode, but really I can't think of any other games besides maybe Bonk's Revenge or maybe Shockman that I'm really super skilled at and can blast through.
If you were going to do a speedrun of a Turbo/PCE game, what would it be?

Would certainly be interesting if not tool assisted, and a good way to pick up strategies for those of us out of practice.

Well, once speed runs get really polished, TAS plays actually begin to inform them as runners start trying to see if some of the TAS tricks are possible in real-time play.

Might as well link to the Speedrun.com page for TG16 games for anyone who didn't know that was out there. There've been a few more people taking interest in TG16 speedrunning lately, so expect there to be much more to see over the coming months and years. I actually took this last 12 hour speedrun challenge weekend to do my first ever speedrun with Genji Tsuushin Agedama. My level 5 and wizard boss fight are really sloppy on that one, so it should be beatable in case anyone wants to give me some competition. Or if you really just want a world record, you could do what I did and pick an obscure game that no one has bothered with yet and get it pretty much for free.

I signed up as well!! I wonder how good I can get at Shockman now!! Well I'm glad we'll finally have someone running that one. I was briefly considering it, but that's such a difficult, unforgiving game that I decided not to, at least for the moment. Good luck!

Thanks! Once you figure out the horrid controls and silly hit boxes, all of those 'quirks' just become charming gameplay elements, lol

Someone should do a reverse speedrun of Tatsujin to see how fast he/she can get themselves back to the title screen.

So Toad22484 has decided that he's going to try doing TG16 speedruns every Friday. He's starting in just a moment with Neutopia, and you can find his stream here.

oh my... A speedrun of Neutopia? That sounds incredibly clever. I would love to see that... That actually gets me thinking.. Maybe a speedrun of Ys Book I could be something that people start working on... Me personally, I basically have most of the quests/items memorized, I just need to work on optimizing time instead of taking in the sights and sounds from the game.. lol Also- I could work on a speedrun of Beyond Shadowgate as it's one of a handful of larger scale games I play through annually.

So I figured I'd let you all know that Bloody Wolf managed to get into the upcoming AGDQ. Unfortunately, it's the only PCE game this time (and there actually was a group of runners trying to get a whole TG16 block in), but it's still nice to see. I figured I'd also let you know that someone made a Twitter bot that posts every new TG16 entry on speedrun.com here.
