Does anyone have a good suggestion for a private subversion server? Preferably a free one, but if paying gets me the security we need, then that is what's necessary.
If anyone has any experience or suggestions, that would be great. Being able to share the code with Elmer and Gredler easily would help our workflow so much.

At work we use perforce, and have used alienbrain, subversion content management would be bad ass and lubricate our process greatly.
I am wondering if github is sufficient?

Github doesn't allow for free private ones. $7 a month adds up quickly. Maybe I'm asking for too much on this...

To be clear, you're looking for suggestions that are hosted and free in which we can upload our files and work on them with version control?

Don't know if this will help, but think about it.
Years ago my nephew wanted the same thing: an svn server to share files. So, he set up a Linux svn server, on our local network. Which was fine, as long as you were 'inside'. Around that time, VPN's were getting popular, so eventualy he allowed connections from 'his' VPN. If you were connected to the VPN, you could access the local svn server.
It's been years so I don't remember all the details, but it is doable..
And a cheap raspberry pi makes a great file server

Try to put the repository on a dropbox or googledrive or something like that. I did it some time ago with a friend in australia (I'm French) to share a code source, it works fine. I know it is not a server, only a source repo.

We have been using google drive, and it's kinda nice, but we're hoping for something more. I found this today, and I am going to give it a try! bitbucket.org/

Yep, I've used them before for private stuff. They're pretty good.
