I am ashamed to say I haven't booted up my Duo for a couple of months before today. To remedy this I whacked in Drac X and had a little 20 minute burst. Embarrassingly got game over at stage 2. Will be getting back on track and trying to get over my Overwatch addiction. So, what did you play today?

Rondo is still the classic. The only castlevania I’ve played recently is X68K, which has an incredible soundtrack. I’ll have to boot it up over the summer.
I played some Strider and Street Fighter II recently. Strider is not a great port (30 FPS?) but I like the new level and the amazing audio. The final level is also less aggravating. Just wish there wasn’t a lot of cut music (Siberia alone is missing 3 songs, Mass of Cloud and Big Run are the only songs along the new generic boss song). Is there a way to add it in?

I suppose you could burn a copy with whatever music you wanted on it as long as it was exactly the same track length.

Ran through Dungeon Explorer again today which I seem to do every few months. Still my favorite chip tunes of all time.

I played some Dungeon Explorer II a few minutes ago, after making some adjustments to the new CRT. Before that, Hani in the Sky

Both dungeon explorers are worthy of time, but I prefer 2. Soundtrack is smoking. I do like the chip tunes of 1 though.

Stick with the green laser Paul! And after stage 1 you'll have to stick to the lower middle of the screen...

I've been dedicating myself to beating R-Type this past week, playing for an hour or so every day before or after work. Finally beat Part 1; I curse Irem for those fighters who swoop in from all sides and leave a trail of detritus behind them...such fiendish level design! I'm loving it, though. Actually I'm on Stage 6 right now, but I spent most of my credits getting through Stage 5 so I expect I won't last long. Not about to give up, however...I've decided this is going to be the second shmup I complete after Coryoon.

I am ashamed to admit that none of my classic consoles are hooked up right now. After my last move a couple years ago I got distracted with learning to be a homeowner and, almost immediately after, a father. All my consoles and my 27" JVC TV are in boxes in the soon(?)-to-be game room, but nothing is actually hooked up. I even got a couple extra switch boxes to make it all work smoothly, but it hasn't happened, yet. That means the last PCE game I played was emulated, and I do not remember what it was.

Since I've gotten back from MGC, all I've played is FX Unit Yuki, and I've only played it a bit. :/ I'm still feeling like a zombie after all that wonderment.

Played some Dragon Spirit just to hear them tunes, plus some Bonk's Adventure for the same reason.

Finally reached Stage 7 in R-Type, twice...and promptly lost all credits near the opening, both times. For a while I tried going back to the very beginning to see if I could finish Part 1 with two bits and the ribbon weapon with fully upgraded force...made it to the boss of Stage 4 a few times, but couldn't manage it without at least one death forcing me to start over from Stage 1 again. After giving up on that approach, I went back to using my old mission code and beat Stage 6, but in order to improve my odds I switched to a turbo controller and turned on its rapidfire function to deal with the horde of mechs at the checkpoint. I'm not sure what the appropriate level of shame is that I should be feeling right now. At least getting past the mechs more frequently has allowed me to legitimately get better at picking up the two powerups past the checkpoint and making it to the boss. Only two more levels to go, and from what I hear the last one is pretty short.
