People who use the word "literally" when it's not literally.
People who use the word "physically" when they mean "actually".
People who say "all the sudden".

The word 'addicting'.
Everyone is using it wrong.

The ESD mat I just received. The stench of burned rubber is so bad, if you touch it your fingers will adapt the smell of it. I had to get it out of the house in the hopes that it will become less annoying over the weekend. If not, it will sadly go right back to the seller.

Dislike when people say or type "would of" or "could of".

...when I learned that the majority of Sony cassette tape decks from the early to late 90s suffer from the same broken nylon pinion gear on the reel motor. Including mine. And at the time being, there's no permanent fix for this issue.

Ugh, dude - how come you're paying that much for an ESD mat? I got a silicon one that has measurements and cut-outs for screws and shit. I think it cost less than half that price. ...when I learned that the majority of Sony cassette tape decks from the early to late 90s suffer from the same broken nylon pinion gear on the reel motor. Including mine. And at the time being, there's no permanent fix for this issue. I might have a solution for you... don't hold your breath, but remember that boombox I was working on? It's a Sony. I know the tape drive doesn't work, and I wasn't planning on repairing it, but if you can point me to the right part and it's in good condition, it's yours. The model is a CFS-220, I can't tell exactly when it was manufactured, but I'm guessing late 90's *edit* there's f-all documentation out there for this specific model, but it uses the mechanism MF-220-78D, and is supposedly similar to a CFS-280L. I can't find a service manual online, though there are ones on eBay for sale

Thanks for the kind offer. I'm in the process of repairing my Sony tape deck to bring it back to at least a temporarily working state. However, I'm also repairing another tape deck from a different manufacturer with a more promising outcome (fingers crossed). Regarding your broken boombox, the friendly fellows on Tapeheads.net should be able to help. Usually, the main problem is the belt(s) needing replacement, and giving the heads a proper clean using isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs doesn't hurt, too. I'm in no need for another tape recording device, sorry. I returned the stinky ESD mat to the seller and am using a silicone mat instead. At the time being, there's no ESD sensitive stuff to work on for me, thankfully.

Ah awesome and you're quite welcome, shoot me a PM if you change your mind. Thanks for that link, I will head straight over, that's exactly the kind of site I was looking for. Also, is silicone not ESD safe? yikes...

ESD mats have a conductive backside and a charge dissipating frontside, and they provide a connection for ESD terminals. Silicone mats have neither, but they're heat resistant like no other.
For future projects with more sensitive components, I'd like to go for a complete ESD safe setup on my desk. Which means an ESD ground plug wall adaptor leading to a distribution terminal attached to the desk, where the ESD mat, ESD wrist strap and the ESD connector of the soldering iron all plug into.

Don't worry too much about ESD safety. When you're talking about a decent lamp, you're talking about desk lighting? I'd say that is much more important.

I'd go for a desk lamp like this, with an adjustable arm and a long stripe of LEDs to allow for a broader area of illumination: Even better if the colour temperature is adjustable from warm white (2700 K) to daylight white (6500 K).
