I have this wild idea I'll someday have time to learn enough to start work on a Rampage clone. I could help with this as I reverse engineered some of the game for master system,if you'd be willing to put in the effort and time required on learning C,I could help you animate players,collision detection on buildings(climbing,punching),and how the buildings take damage and collapse.But it would take a lot effort on your part to learn.

Oh, I doubt any real meeting of the minds could ever remotely happen, but we can dream of drinks and chat, can we not? This is the one thing that I miss about E3. GDC was always a fun few days (and nights) in San Francisco, but E3 drew old-colleagues from around the globe, and even though the show floor was a cacophony of noise, the convention bars (and surrounding hotels) were constantly full of developers renewing old friendships over a pint.

These days I see the most retro devs at Portland Retro Gaming Expo. People like James of MegaCat Studios, Bunny boy of Retrozone, and etc. attend that show. IMO, you're far more likely to get a large attendance if there's some other reason to travel. I have a booth there, and have attended every one since 2014.
