Music sways me greatly, therefore I enjoy 1943 Kai more than the others. The special stages have such tunes of awesomeness.

I don't have much experience with the supergrafx game 1941, though I enjoyed the little I played of the arcade original. Daisenpuu doesn't really work on the PC Engine. The only decent port of it is on the Megadrive. That being said, the game isn't all that spectacular in my opinion, as it is probably one of the driest Toaplan games. Since you don't have to worry about collision damage, if you position your helpers on the bottom of the screen while you stay at top, you can avoid large chunks of stages, sans bosses. It's not without charm though- just not on the engine. One wonders why this game, of all games, got three distinct ports. P-47 in its original state is kind of a boring game - decent but dry and not terribly exciting. Well, the HuCard is an accurate port in that regard, ha. I think the visuals are very nice on the PC Engine, and that stage 2 parallax will always look charming. Gameplay-wise, it kinda squanders the horizontal orientation, as there is basically no terrain to maneuver around. It's a solid game though. However, you'd have to wait for the sequel, P-47 Aces to see the venerable dev team NMK really knock it out of the park with an incredible game. Naxat did a nice job with 1943 Kai. The extra stages are a good addition; Naxat also wisely decided to change up the scenery between levels (practically unheard-of for a 19xx game! ). The music is in some ways better than the arcade originals - the addition of the punchy drums really livens up some of the tracks. The new tracks are catchy and exciting, which are appropriate for when the game leaves its inspiration behind and goes into more energetic territory. You have a good base in place thanks to the Capcom original, and are buoyed by a surprising and welcome update to the themes and visuals thanks to Naxat. Of the "propeller plane" shooters here, I'd have to give my vote to 1943 Kai.
