Those VHS tapes haven't been touched in like almost 20 years so I wonder if their is any tape rot or certainly might have some deterioration. Just picked these up yesterday so hopefully will enjoy them this weekend.

I've got VHS tapes and Video-8 compact tapes older than that and they still play fine. Just don't expect any remarkable video quality to write home about, especially when being recorded on longplay settings.

Macross Plus is my go-to. The music, the animation, the mecha designs, the characters... All so perfect.

Holy crap this is an old show I wouldn't mind watching it again but I only have it on VHS and no player That's no excuse when VHS recorders are piling up at Goodwill and other thrift stores. Try to hunt down an S-VHS one, if you get it for cheap. It won't display VHS tapes any better than a regular machine, but it should be constructed to last since they were more expensive back in the day, and always came with Stereo and S-Video outputs. That's a good idea. I don't think to look for S-VHS players at thrift shops because I have a couple normal ones, but I'll start keeping my eye out.

Gonna watch some Anime again, I'm in the mood, used to be really into it back in the day, but haven't watched any in years, last anime I watched a while back was Naruto and really enjoyed it.
There's so much choice not sure where to start... mmm...

Start in the 80s or 90s. More good stuff per capita.

Usagi Drop and Welcome to the NHK are a couple of series I'd recommend.

Haven't got a specific genre in mind, just good storylines with lots of twists and a nice art style. Thanks for the recommendations I'll checkout those two you mentioned.

I know some people hate it but I really enjoyed Attack on Titan (it's on Crunchyroll). I've not seen season 2 yet, really must do that soon.

Try Wooser's hand-to-mouth-life. Short 5 minute episodes. A bunny-shaped alien with an addiction to money, beef and zynical pseudo-philosophical monologues. Two school girls. Puns and simple yet well-drawn art. Then there's Miss Monochrome. A robotic wanna-be idol on its way to fame, with lots of hits and misses. Equally short episodes, equally hilarious in a charming way. You'll find Wooser being a guest in some episodes, just like Miss Monochrome starred in one of the episodes of Wooser's series. Both are available on Chrunchyroll. Don't miss them. Otherwise, look back what you might have missed from the 80s by browsing through the back catalogues of Discotek/Righstuff, Animeigo and (sadly defunct) ADV Films. Browse through the articles of www.colonydrop.com/ (the goofy fanzine art is intentional to make you remember the 90s) and www.zimmerit.moe/ for honest reviews. Fans of Haruhiko Mikimoto should get their hands on the Marionette Generation manga.

The devil is a part timer. The title more or less explains the basic premise.

Roughly the story is a bunch of yokai having to help out a girl having issues with personal life and having to move away so hopefully I haven't given too much away. The movie feels fairly well paced. My main gripe is I'm not fond of the art style and find it somewhat bland the colours are muted and lacks any sort of multi shading etc. Nothing fancy like Your name, Spirited Away, Ponyo. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing this to those.
