So far as my limited internet searches can tell, the only special / Promo HuCards with unique content are;
GunHed Special (GunHed Taikai) = Limited time modes not present on regular HuCard. Darius Alpha = Limited time modes + Boss Rush mode.
Is this correct, I understand that the rest of the 'soldier' series games had caravan modes built in, so, the special versions of them (except SSS which never had a special HuCard), are not unique?

I take it when you say "the rest of the 'soldier' series, you are referring to:
- Final soldier Special Version - Soldier Blade Special Version
But you are also overlooking the Bomberman '93 Special Version HuCard
There was also a "Power League Gold Version" (but I don't have that and can't speak to the differences from the original)..

Hi, Yes, i mean't those games. I also was thinking of shooters primarily, but does Bomberman '93 offer any different playing areas than the regular HuCard?

Deden no Den is a promo version of Bomberman '94 that features unique assets. Snatcher Pilot Disk is light on gameplay but heavy on unique assets.

PC Genjin 3 had a "not for sale" version for some sort of promo, but I'm not sure what original content it had, if any! I suppose it's unlikely to have been a caravan style game.

Thanks guys, I already have Nextzr, but i didn't know about Deden, or snatcher pilot. I heard about the PC Genjin 3 special HuCard, which is just a demo of the first level, which is a shame. I really fancy picking up a Gunhed Special HuCard.

I took some google translate shots of a page in one of my PC-E books, for what they are worth. It details some promo style games. Don't trust the translations for much tho...for instance the game listed as "something plaid" is solider blade special I believe. Very hard to get that software to translate the page 100%.

Count the hole-punched version of The Kung Ku if you may. This was actually the same game as the retail version, so nothing exciting, except it may fail to boot occasionally. Before the game went on sale, it was discovered that they forgot to initialise RAM content on boot, which might sometimes fail to start depending on whatever random values the system's RAM had after boot. ( Edit: Okay, rereading the post it was that they had forgotten to initialise bank #0 on boot (essential for all the I/O stuff) and there wasn't any problem when they were using the development system.) So, the whole batch was recalled before it went on sale and the fixed version came out some time later. This was the reason why this game was Vol.1 of the catalogue, but not a launch title. The faulty invalidated batch of games were instead used as shop demos, with a hole punched on the cards to differentiate them from the retail version.

What book are those pics from?
I've been gathering info on promos, demos, etc over the years and haven't found much in terms of HuCards. A couple that haven't been mentioned in this thread that come to mind are: - Youkaidouchuuki Gold - Bomberman Users Battle
As far as I know, Youkaidouchuuki Gold is the same as the regular release gameplay-wise except for having "Gold" on the title screen (also comes in a "gold" HuCard case). I've only seen a screenshot in a magazine or somewhere long ago, so not even sure it was legit. Bomberman Users Battle seems to be just a multiplayer only version with the basic map from the original game.
Demo CDs/preview CDs etc., are another ball of wax. lol

This is the book Shirei. Pretty neat little book, and I'm glad my wife was like "why don't you use google translate on it?"...which literally never occurred to me. I'm a quick one.
There are some other neat pages in it, one on a Tokimeki Memorial "Premium Pack", and one on a Virgin Dream "Special Pack", which were some kind of special editions. There is also a page on games that came with gear, which includes Forgotten Worlds (controller), Mahjong Academy (VHS), Pacho Kun (pachinko controller) and one I was unaware of "SANGOKUSHI EIKETSU TENKA NI NOZOMU" which came with a really nice little leather note book. After learning about it I found one with the book cheap on ebay and said screw it. I want that tat.
Oddly that page did NOT included the 3x3 Eyes that comes with the VHS tape. So clearly the book is missing stuff here and there. Though I can't really trust the translations, it SEEMS written in an unformal style with the author reporting sometimes on rumors (mentions a few things they claim to have never actually seen).
The learning software was actually really cool to discover. It also pointed me toward a few comics I was able to find that came with PC-E discs.
