Hi everybody ;-)
I would like to know what is your top 5 hardcore Pc-Engine games (cards only).
I never found a top 5 of the hardest games, so, your opinions interest me a lot.
Many thanks in advance ;-)

I am more or less a collector of CD games, so I don't have much opinion on HuCards. However, the list of hardest HuCard games probably includes Energy and Deep Blue, both terrifyingly bad and very hard.

In terms of good games that are hard, Tatsujin must be up there.

Tatsujin is double hard due to its' game play difficulty and the price of admission!
Quckly looking over my HuCards, here are a few I feel are hard and why:
Kato Chan & Ken Chan - Slippy game play and evil traps that send you back levels. Image Fight and Xevious - Tedious old school style of shooters, with cheap deaths due to lack of speed. Bloody Wolf - Yes, you can credit feed it to win, but 1cc that last boss? Zipang - I haven't played it as much as the NES version, but those last 10 levels that drop you back a level every death made me give up. any of the top down racers (F1 Circus, etc) - You have to play perfect and fast yet those turns come at you so quickly!
When I was younger, I thought Side-arms was impossible to 1cc so I bet my friend if he could do it, I'll give him my copy. 2 days later, I was sans my game. I enjoy shooters/STG/whatever, but I've never been that good at 'em. Goes to show that one persons thoughts on "what is a hard game" could be cheese and crackers for another.
Bobby -> I'm curious to ask why you proposed the Q?

In fact, Side Arms is one of the more forgiving Capcom shooters (another game in the same league is 1943). You have immediate recovery instead of winding back to a check-point, you're invinsible to sustain one more hit when combined (and the combination items aren't that rare, provided you know where to get them) and best of all you only lose the weapon you're currently using when you die (one strategy is that if you can see death coming within seconds, quickly change your weapon to another one instead of the one you're using and want to keep; this is more applicable to the arcade version as you pause the game whenever you change weapons in the PCE port).
The same can't be said of the Before Christ mode in the CD version (which is not covered in this thread). Nearly all the above advantages are taken away. No immediate recovery(need confirmation on this one, as I remember it's using checkpoints but I could be wrong). NO COMBINATION (VIOLATING the tagline ZETTAI GATTAI! of the original game). Can only keep ONE weapon at a time. I remembered reaching a boss in an early stage but couldn't hurt it (enough?) with my current weapon or the charged laser (maybe I got a wrong weapon which left me in an unwinnable situation, like DaiMakaiMura) and the battle dragged on for MINUTES until I exploded. I was never able to beat that mode.

Image Fight is regarded as a pretty darn tough game.

Aeroblasters isn’t that hard...until the end. I’ve only ever cleared it with the cheat code. It’s a very good game, one of my favorite shooters. Daimakaimura is...too hard for me.

Thank you for all your replies ;-) If someone has more examples, just tell us. Personally, I like to know which games are the best for each vintage console. And it's interesting to know which games are the hardest ever made for each system too. That's why I decided to ask your opinion about the Pc-Engine on this forum. I'm new on this forum, so I don't know so much about this machine. I gonna learn. I remember when the Pc-Engine arrived on the market in the 80's. It's a fabulous console :-)

Really? R-Type goes unmentioned? The R-Type II JP HuCARD in particular, which is made harder because it's the boring half of the game.

salamander: on pce is hard too even the 1st stage I struggle to shoot through the bio walls without autofire F1 circus: games I also find hard due to the top down view and steering yokai dochuki: some of the enemies and jumping required on later levels make it feel like both luck and skill is needed
