Now check this out. A German musician by the name of Remute has been working on an album of songs made for the PC-Engine (chip tunes/HuC6280) and is planning to release it on actual HuCards starting early 2021. How cool! "After his two highly acclaimed albums Technoptimistic and The Cult Of Remute which were released as Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo gamecartridges, german techno musician Remute presents the next novelty: His new album Electronic Lifestyle comes exclusively for the PC-Engine gameconsole (called Turbografx-16 in the USA) on a forgotten, but cute and cool format - the HuCard. It is the first music album release for theconsole ever and the first commercial HuCard release since many years."Pre-orders are already being taken. Check it out here: Electronic Lifestyle by Remute

Of course we know that it is not the first commercial HuCARD released in many years...but this is cool.

Is there is a little mix up in the blurb? I guess this the pc engine version that's being released but you have to add a note during the check out whether you want to pick up the TG16 version?
--- ATTENTION ---- : TURBOGRAFX-16 VERSION ONLY AVAILABLE TILL JAN 22ND 2021! PLEASE LEAVE A NOTE AFTER CHECKOUT IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE THE TURBOGRAFX-16 VERSION!!! AND PLEASE ADD 3€ IF YOU PREFER TRACKED SHIPPING AND LEAVE A NOTE!!!
EDIT
Does that mean that we only get the tg16 version up til 22nd and afterwards we have to specify if we still want that version? What about the pc engine version?

I read that as the default version is PC Engine and that you need to leave a note indicating if you want TGFX version. And that's only an option until Jan 22.
Which I expect means: - He's going to order a 'batch' on Jan 23 - In the batch, he's ordering only enough TGFX to cover the special requests - He may order extra PC Engine versions to cover post-batch sales, but isn't planning to do another batch (or maybe he can order again, but won't bother with both versions).
...But I was wondering about the comment above, about not being the first commercial HuCard releases in years... what was the last commercial HuCard released, and what year ? I know about Atlantean, but that was something like 2014 or so. Not sure about others.

This is neat but the only sample track definitely isn't "pushing the 8bit soundchip of the PC-Engine to the max and probably even further". Sounds like Fighting Run with lower quality chip sound and poorer samples.
They would have been better off just sticking to 100% samples.

yea I thought the quality wasn't great but maybe it was just playing on a low quality stream.
EDIT Playback quality certainly isn't up there with stuff like Minds Eye but the composition is very good

How do I order it? I see a button that says pre-order Record/Vinyl. That's the only thing I see to order anything.

I think it’s decent composition and he makes fine, if not spectacular, use of the sampling capabilities. I’d like to see more experimentation with instrument waveforms, however.

You purchase via Bandcamp, but since it's bandcamp, they only have categories for traditional formats. He put a note "don't worry, this is not a vinyl record, this is a HuCARD"... I am getting this for the novelty, really... I think the sample song is OK, but I hope the other tracks will be more impressive (either the compositions or the technical execution). ASIDE: I have never heard about his SNES/Genesis "albums"... are there artists who have been doing this (albums on NES carts, for example)?

Considering the extreme difference in sound chips between the Genesis and the SNES, the album released on both systems should each be a remix of the other. If I were composing for SNES I would use a crapload of filtering and samples, Genesis would be more standard samples with more noise generator and of course that late 80s FM. It’s like electronic piano versus electric guitar...they are both “electronic” but you rarely write music the same way for both.
So when I read that he done such a thing I was impressed but also curious if the art fully backs up the overall concept.

It looks like they were separate albums, it just wasn't worded very well in the description. Here's Techoptomistic, the Genesis cartridge: remute.bandcamp.com/album/technoptimisticAnd here's The Cult of Remute, the SNES cartridge: remute.bandcamp.com/album/the-cult-of-remuteI haven't listened to either of them yet, but all tracks are available to listen to at those links. I'll probably pick one of the HuCARDs up. It's a pretty cool idea.
